The Role:
We are seeking a Principal Data Engineer for our Data organization, to architect complex data solutions across platforms, business intelligence and data science / machine learning use cases. As the most senior individual contributor in the group, this person will drive technical and quantitative standards, coach engineers towards best practices, and fundamentally ensure that we are successful in building data technology that meets current and future business needs.
 
Duties and responsibilities may include:
●        Lead technical & quantitative excellence forums within the data org and participate across other engineering domains
●        Architect data solutions and processes enabling the business to turn data into value, including data warehousing, big data processing, AI & ML development, business analytics tooling, compliance, privacy and security
●        Identify & own roadmap investments to drive technical and quantitative excellence
●        Act as a mentor and coach to engineers, scientists and analysts in the data group
●        Support data org leadership & exec team where needed with strategy, partnership evaluations and more
 
What skills are important to us:
●        7+years experience in data engineering, including data platform architecture, integration, warehousing, big data processing and AI/ML. Experience with structured & unstructured, batch & stream, and cloud platform providers
●        A background (educational or professional) in mathematics, economics or data science is a strong plus but not required
●        Experience implementing & managing regulatory, compliance and privacy requirements in data systems
●        Experience implementing standards for data governance and quality control
●        Strong interpersonal skills, ability to earn trust & influence without direct management authority
●        Desire to build a new platform from scratch and participate in hiring & performance standard-setting in the data org
