Job Description

The D&A team is focused on data and analytics strategies for the future.  We support NBCU’s vast portfolio of brands - from broadcast, cable, news, streaming service, and sports networks to film studios, world-renowned theme parks and a diverse suite of digital properties.  We take pride in supplying our business groups with data to advise and shape strategic business decisions related to our content.   • Direct Hands-on Project Research, Design and Development of Platform Initiatives
  • Managing and Coordination of Platform Projects with our development team
  • Articulation and Review of Projects and Planning
  • Act as the SME on new technology and able to present to senior leadership
  • Closely work with architect team to finalize new data patterns and change to existing data pattern
  • Help in finding reusable solution for business issues
  • Review code and testing done by the team
  • Technically mentor the junior data engineers
  • Able to Explain technical solution to stakeholders

Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in a senior engineer role with a track record of delivering architectural visions to production
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in computer science or related engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledgeable in object-based languages and object-based design principles using UML
  • Proficiency in Scala, Kafka, Java and other Big Data based languages
  • 5+ Years Full working knowledge of AWS or related cloud technologies
  • 8+ Years Full working knowledge of RDBMS systems, S3, Spark and Spark environments

  • Ability to think dynamically across many different and varying technologies
  • Carry an idea from seed all the way to production
  • Understanding of Metadata Driven platforms and development
  • Strong oral and written communication: able to describe complex systems, the needs they satisfy and the technical implementation
  • Working knowledge of sustainable, scalable and efficient development practices
  • Ability to key influence key stakeholders and mentor staff engineers

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
