On the Product Data Analytics team, we are using data to understand our customers better, provide insights that help management make more informed decisions, and deliver interactive tools that other members of the Underdog team use to perform their jobs more effectively and efficiently. We are looking for creative problem-solvers with integrity, who: love data, care about getting it right, and come to the table with new ideas for how to take our data organization and analytical capabilities to the next level

What you'll do:

    • Collaborate with a variety of different departments (including Finance, Marketing, Product, and Engineering) to gather and refine requirements; work with stakeholders to fully define the problem trying to be solved
    • Build, refine, and validate data models, using a combination of SQL (in Looker and BigQuery), LookML (in Looker), and sometimes Liquid and/or Python
    • Create reports, dashboards, and other interactive tools using Looker (sometimes as part of a project, other times on an ad hoc basis)
    • Manage your time wisely across multiple projects and deliverables
    • Bring your creativity and expertise to the table to discover new insights from our data and share ideas for new analytics products
    • Occasionally write quick SQL or Python scripts to answer questions from different partners
    • Take on trainings related to any new tools we decide to use
    • Become a trusted resource for all things data

Who you are:

    • Advanced SQL programmer with an emphasis on writing performant SQL (PostgresSQL or Google BigQuery is a plus!)
    • Experienced with exploring/learning new data models with minimal oversight
    • Experienced in learning different BI/visualization tools and adapting quickly to new ways of doing things (Looker experience strongly preferred)
    • Self-driven to produce quality work on time; able to self-direct and manage their own workload; comfortable with minimal supervision
    • Accustomed to rapidly changing priorities and work assignments (our customers are our stakeholders)
    • Curious by nature and eager to ask questions to enhance understanding
    • Eager to learn new skills
    • A great team player who: communicates openly, honestly, and completely; seeks input from other team members and shares knowledge openly and regularly
    • Analytical, detail-oriented, organized, creative, and genuine

Even better if you have...

    • Experience with writing LookML in Looker, especially performance tuning
    • Experience with Liquid templating language
    • Experience with Python and/or JavaScript 
    • Statistical knowledge
    • Interest in sports (don’t worry, we can teach you!)

Our targeted compensation rate for this position is between $105,000 and $125,000, depending on experience, plus equity. Below you’ll find a few of our perks:
