About EIQ

Our mission is to build the world's first AI-powered claims guidance platform to transform the lives of injured or disabled workers. Our AI models understand injuries and medical treatments like a medical expert to solve the insurance industry’s big data problem. You: An ML expert who thrives on first principles problems that no one has ever worked on before. You love innovation and making an immediate impact – and are constantly driving toward launch and delivery thanks to your high degree of ownership and control. You love working on new and challenging problems – not incremental or marginal improvements – and you're supercharged by having interesting, unsolved problems continually present themselves.

The Opportunity: You'll be actively impacting people's lives dramatically through AI interventions in concert with our top AI team. Your direct colleagues will be the founding team who built this platform from the first line of code, including Georg (Google AI), Karan (Bloomberg), Tom (Google AI), Arun (Facebook), and an array of other industry veterans who left top tech leaders for the greenfield opportunity at EvolutionIQ. In this technical leadership role, you’ll harness vast amounts of complex, highly proprietary data that EvolutionIQ already has access to but that no one else has worked with before. Using our modern stack –  TensorFlow/PyTorch, Dagster, Bigquery, Vertex AI, GCP, Terraform, and K8 – and VMs with TBs of memory and TPUs, you’ll scale up computation for the entire global population.

In this Role, You Will:

  • Build ML models for production use
  • Perform in-depth exploratory data analysis to scope ML opportunities, identify potential issues in the data, and lay the groundwork for model design, training & evaluation strategies
  • Suggest and implement new features to improve model performance and business logic
  • Write and review production-quality PRs daily
  • Translate client business problems into ML problems
  • Build scalable machine learning models for claim time series forecasting and NLP text understanding
  • Continue to grow and learn in the data & ML space with a focus on business problems that require making sense of large-scale structured and unstructured datasets

Topline Rewards: You'll be in an Individual Contributor role with rapid performance and promotion cycles, competitive salary, company equity, and a chance to be in early enough to make your own distinct mark on our platform but late enough where you’ll be doing it for live commercial applications — not spec projects or demos. The perks are many: remote work options, company-paid professional development stipends, opportunities for cross-functional moves, and more. But just as important, we prioritize an ownership mindset — you’re the CEO of your projects, and you’ll think like a CEO and have the freedom and autonomy to make your own decisions.

Requirements:

  • You are an ML Engineer / Data Scientist with 3+ years of experience, especially in highly scalable production environments.
  • You have deep exposure to data science & ML tech stacks (sklearn, Keras / PyTorch, tuning frameworks), data analysis & modeling, feel at home in Python/Pandas/Jupyter, and strive for scalable technical concepts and solutions.
  • You’re a team player who is solutions-oriented.
  • You have crisp written and verbal communication skills and can effectively correspond between technical and non-technical audiences.

Even Better if You Have the following:

  • Knowledge of Dagster, BigQuery, Vertex AI, GCP, Terraform, Spark, Kubernetes
  • Owned and deployed, and maintained model-serving pipelines in production
  • Expert skills at writing clean, efficient, and easy-to-understand code with unit tests and functional design patterns
  • Experience with advanced statistical modeling, especially probabilistic programming
  • Ambitious, collaborative, and empathetic values
  • A work style that is open to giving and receiving critical feedback and collaborating effectively across teams

Our technology has helped tens of thousands of people.

The Fit: We’re a team of architects and visionaries who thrive on being first. We’ve created a fun, passionate, humorous, friendly, and fiercely driven engineering culture that values delivery and personal impact above everything else. We are open to sponsoring candidates currently in the US who need to transfer their active H1-B visa.

Benefits & Perks:

  • Compensation - The compensation range for this role is $200k - $225k. This is flexible depending on a variety of factors, including but not limited to seniority, fit, total compensation split, and personal financial preference.

  • Growth & Training –$1,000/year for each employee for professional development so you can have the ability to grow as we do

Join Us if you want to win big, play hard, and be the engineer who makes a difference in the tech world, inside EvolutionIQ, for our clients, and in the lives of the sick and injured people, our software is helping every day.
