Your Mission is to impact injured and disabled people's lives in dramatic ways in concert with our top Data, AI, and Product teams. Your direct colleagues will be the founding team who built this platform from the first line of code including Georg (Google AI), Karan (Bloomberg), Tom (Google AI), Arun (Facebook), Kipp (Palantir) and an array of other industry veterans who left top tech leaders for the greenfield opportunity at EvolutionIQ. In this technical leadership role, you’ll build highly scalable modern platform that can enable advanced AI for claim data. Using our modern stack –  DBT, Dagster, BigQuery, GCP, Terraform and K8 – and VM's with TB's of memory and GPU's, you’ll scale up computation for data pipelines in order to ingest large volumes of data as we continue to expand. . 

In this Role You Will:

  • Lead Proof of Concepts to drive new ideas and influence the future direction of our technology stack
  • Build self-service analytics tools to help engineering teams derive actionable metrics out of large volumes of raw data
  • Partner with EvolutionIQ’s Product, ML and Engineering teams to develop algorithms that answer complex questions on claim data, build out existing data products, and create new ones
  • Work closely with the DevOps team to develop monitoring and alerting scripts on an array of data pipelines 
  • Introduce new big data technologies to our engineers with a focus on business problems that require making sense of large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.

Requirements:

  • You are a Python Data Engineer / Software Engineer with 5+ years of industry experience in building scalable data platforms 
  • Problem-solving and debugging skills with expert knowledge in Python
  • Validated software engineering experience in design, test, source code management, and CI/CD practices
  • Experience using modern big data storage technologies such as Apache Parquet or Avro 
  • Experience in developing high performance and scalable data intensive systems on hybrid cloud environment
  • Experience with tools and methodologies to test large scale distributed computing systems
  • You know the critical questions to ask in order to understand a client’s business problem 
  • You have crisp written and verbal communication skills

Even Better if You Have:

  • You have 3+ years experience in deploying systems on GCP or AWS
  • Owned, deployed and maintained model serving pipelines in production
  • You have worked with Dagster/Airflow, BigQuery, GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes, sklearn, keras/TensorFlow/pytorch, dbt, data modeling, Python/Pandas data frameworks, and scalable technical concepts/solutions
  • Creativity and resourcefulness with an appetite to solve previously unsolved problems
  • Ambitious, collaborative, and empathetic values
