What’s the role?

As a senior member of the Data Platform team, you will help us develop data processing platforms, manage them at scale, and work with other teams that rely on them. This is a full-time position.

We are entirely on AWS and Terraform for deployment. AWS EMR/Hadoop, HBase, ECS, Elasticache, and S3 are among some of the technologies we primarily use to build our data platform.

Responsibilities

• Mentor the more junior team members.
• Lead, define, design, build, test and maintain the AWS data architecture, including ingestion of data from S3 and processing it though EMR, Spark or other similar technologies.
• Work with stakeholders Product, Customer Success, & Marketing, to coordinate development and release of a feature.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve performance & replace the existing legacy systems
• On-call availability to support customer facing critical systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of operational experience tuning Hadoop AWS EMR, HBASE, Spark or similar systems for performance.
• 8+ years of industry experience in software development, data engineering, business intelligence, data science, or related fields. 
• Experience working with technologies such as  Docker, and AWS services such as ECS, EC2, ELB, Elasticache/Redis, S3, dynamodb etc. 
• 5+ years of Python or Java industry experience, ideally both. 
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing production software issues (Ruby, Javascript, Python, Java)

• Using or maintaining data processing environments like Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, and other big data technologies.
