Description
Moz's Data Platform team is looking for a Senior Software Developer to fulfill these objectives:
Design, architect and build new big data processing systems based on Hadoop, Hbase, Spark , S3 etc.
Lead technical architecture design discussions within the team and across the organization.
Participates in full dev cycle
Working with Product team to gather requirements
Design and architect systems that meet requirements, document them with tradeoffs
Sees Observability, CI/CD and monitoring as a critical feature of release
Mentors junior engineering growth of engineers via feedback and guidance.
Participates and promotes culture of psychological safety of learning and growth.
Strong team player - believes “team’s success is their success”.
Take turns in the on-call rotation, handling systems and operations issues as they arise including responding to off-hours alerts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mentor the junior team members.
Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc..
Work with stakeholders including the Product, SEO SMEs, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.
Work with stakeholders Product, Customer Success, & Marketing, to coordinate development and release of a feature.
Evaluate new technologies to improve performance & replace the existing legacy systems
On-call availability to support customer facing critical systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role, who has attained a
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.
- Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, Snoflake etc.
- Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and HBase, Cassandra.
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.
- Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, ECS, EMR, RDS, Redshift
- Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.
- Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.
