Confluent is pioneering a fundamentally new category of data infrastructure focused on data in motion. Have you ever found a new favorite series on Netflix, picked up groceries curbside at Walmart, or paid for something using Square? That’s the power of data in motion in action—giving organizations instant access to the massive amounts of data that is constantly flowing throughout their business. At Confluent, we’re building the foundational platform for this new paradigm of data infrastructure. Our cloud-native offering is designed to be the intelligent connective tissue enabling real-time data, from multiple sources, to constantly stream across the organization. With Confluent, organizations can create a central nervous system to innovate and win in a digital-first world.

We’re looking for self-motivated team members who crave a challenge and feel energized to roll up their sleeves and help realize Confluent’s enormous potential. Chart your own path and take healthy risks as we solve big problems together. We value having diverse teams and want you to grow as we grow—whether you’re just starting out in your career or managing a large team, you’ll be amazed at the magnitude of your impact.

About the Role:

For this role we are looking for a team member who wants to build tools to analyze and solve hard business problems, particularly how to efficiently and effectively build out our pipe-gen and product-led growth machine. As part of our Marketing Financial Planning and Analysis Team, you will work closely with partners in Finance, Marketing, Product Ecosystems, and Sales.

This is an individual contributor role and will report to our Economist.

What You Will Do:

    • Build out and automate modeling by helping us build out code-based and statistical modeling, allowing us to analyze more scenarios faster and more accurately. The focus will primarily, but not exclusively, be on Pipe-Gen, Product-Led-Growth, and creating an integrated framework for analyzing both
    • Conduct and communicate ad-hoc but sophisticated analysis of relevance to our Go To Market strategy
    • Build out data sets to integrate headcount, budget, and productivity data and measurement that will lower our time-to-insight. Work closely with other parts of Finance, Data Science, and Data Engineering where relevant to achieve this
    • Build bottoms-up planning tools and processes based on the modeling. Enable business partners to leverage these
    • Work with Data Science to support the building of operationally relevant dashboarding

What You Will Bring:

    • We take a holistic approach to assessing each candidate, but a combination of some if not all of the below will be important
    • A degree in Business, Economics, Operations Research, or Statistics. Preferably at the master's or higher level
    • A demonstrated ability to solve hard business problems either inside a company or academically
    • Strong Python coding skills and experience building operationally and analytically relevant dashboards
    • A strong understanding of statistics and modeling. Demonstrated ability to thoughtfully use regression or machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex topics to a non-technical (or less technical) audience
