The Opportunity
The Data Engineer works closely with the Data Analyst to design and build functional data models and data pipelines to support business needs. You will serve as a data expert helping streamline data workflows and build out the next generation data infrastructure at TheGuarantors. Leveraging existing processes is important but the key to long-term success will be helping develop new and improved ones.
You enjoy working with data and communicating your findings. You can connect the dots and interact across the organization (we operate as a distributed team and communication with people around the globe is a daily occurrence). You thrive in a fast-paced environment where your recommendations impact people daily.
What You'll Do Day-to-Day
- Design and develop data pipelines to increase access to data within the organization.
- Work with 3rd party APIs to ingest new data into our data warehouse.
- Fix complex issues through root cause analysis and setup processes to help monitor those issues in the future.
- Proactively evaluate engineering processes and provide recommendations to increase efficiency.
- Work closely with Data Analyst, and Scientist to build out data schema and ELT processes.
- Help the Data Team in making strategic recommendations to increase overall business success.
- Maintain internal documentation of new and existing data pipelines and schema.
- Deliver timely and effective technical assistance and troubleshooting when issues arise.
Why We'll Love You
- Master’s degree
- 6+ year of experience working for a small to medium sized technology company as a data engineer
- Experience delivering successful software projects from inception through deployment
- Experience building scalable systems and architectures
- Strong scripting skills (SQL, Python, Scala) working with complex queries and data warehouses
- Experience working with Cloud data warehouse / data lakes
- Experience working with data pipeline tool dbt, databricks, airflow
