As a Senior Data Engineer (Data Governance), you’ll be a creative contributor and mentor to the DraftKings Data Governance program. You will help lead the strategy and implementation used to enable our Data Governance and Compliance programs. You’ll work with our Compliance, IT, Engineering, Product Management, Project Management and Subject Matter Experts across the organization to define requirements, business processes, and integrate data and implement controls to manage and protect our data and meet global privacy requirements.  You will evaluate third party tools and build custom tooling to help us meet those requirements.

What you’ll do as a Senior Data Engineer (Data Governance):

  • Develop and administer tools to meet governance and compliance use cases

  • Design, develop and support scripts, APIs, and other solutions to facilitate integration across tools and data sources

  • Build solutions to serve compliance customers requests  

  • Assist in development of new Data Governance policies, procedures, and frameworks

  • Assist in the integration of Data Governance controls in existing business and technical processes

  • Conduct ongoing review of Data Governance artifacts for necessary controls and technical information 

  • Aide in curation of enterprise data catalog and guide catalog policy implementation

  • Lead and support enterprise metadata identification 

  • Triage and address data requests and issues

  • Interface directly with internal stakeholders / end users to resolve data related questions that require technical research

  •  Provide technical subject matter expert knowledge and consulting on data usage, data quality, and data management techniques

  • Work with Compliance to ensure regulatory requirements are adhered to and embedded in data processes. This includes, but not limited to, PII/PGI/CCPA/GDPR/PCI. 

  • Work with IT and business to design and deploy data quality rules, data monitoring of cataloged assets, and escalation processes

  • Continually improve the integrity of governance and data through delivery of validated, accurate sources

  • Works with data stewards, subject matter experts, and IT to ensure ongoing refine of controls and other technical aspects of the governance framework

  • Works with product and engineering to understand the business applications logic and data housed in source applications for proper design and deployment of governance tools

  • Support data catalog, data lineage and other Data Governance efforts

What skills you will use:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Data Engineering OR a related field and 3 years of professional experience in software programming, software development, data engineering or related role.

  • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) & change management

  • Development experience using languages such as Python and work in AWS.

  • Relational database experience including schema design and SQL.

  • Knowledge of Data Governance principle and practices 

  • Experience with data catalogs, business glossaries, data governance and metadata management

  • Experience with data analysis to understand all data interdependencies in connection with business requirements

  • Experience with industry leading data governance platform and architectures 

  •  Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams. 

This position can sit in either Boston or remote; however, this work is to be performed entirely outside of Colorado.
