The Role

The Lending Business Insights team is seeking a Senior Data Scientist who will help support growth in our Personal Loans, Student Loans, and Mortgage businesses by improving SoFi’s ability to execute with data.  This is an exciting role for someone to leverage their technical skills in Python and SQL to create robust reporting, analytical, and machine learning capabilities in Snowflake with Airflow and dbt.  Success in this role hinges on your technical aptitude and quantitative abilities: you know how to plow through data with dbt, perform analysis in Python with the right levels of abstraction for code reuse, and measure business performance by efficiently calculating key performance indicators.  You treat stakeholders as a partnership – you are there at each step of the way and you know that we only succeed if we succeed together. 

What you’ll do:

• Leverage DBT and Airflow to build reporting pipelines in Snowflake
• Create abstractions to encapsulate business logic inside Snowflake and outside of BI tools
• Build frameworks to ensure consistent reporting of KPIs across platforms
• Establish best practices for working with Data Observability tools
• Stay on top of new features available in our data stack and understand how to leverage them to improve our existing processes.
• Develop processes with cross functional partners to better enable optimizing core product decisions such as funnel conversion, product experimentation, prospect targeting, web page optimization, and unit economics.

What you’ll need:

• M.B.A, B.S. or M.S. in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related quantitative field is required for this position;
• 5+ years of experience working in an Analytics or Engineering role in Finance or Tech
• Experience with using Airflow and DBT to build Data Pipelines in Snowflake
• Strong programming skills in SQL and Python
• Experience with building data visualizations with Tableau, Looker or other BI tools
• Ability to work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment, with a strong attention to detail;
• Effective communication and presentation skills and ability to explain complex analyses in simple terms to business leaders;
• Strong relationship building and collaborative skills;
• Exceptional problem-solving skills;
