The role

SoFi’s Risk Management team has responsibility for ensuring growth in lending and other member related activities are consistent with the company’s risk appetite.  The team holistically manages enterprise, credit, deposit products, fraud prevention, portfolio management, infrastructure, and business operating risks. In addition, Risk Management directly manages enterprise partners, ensures strong compliance with regulations, acts as a multi-layered second line of defense in oversight of business operations, and works to ensure risk policies enable a member-first experience.

What you’ll do:

The fraud strategy analyst will help SoFi develop better data driven fraud decisioning by:

• Aggregating and synthesizing data sets from multiple data environments
• Analyzing complex datasets to understand aggregate performance of fraud decisioning and granular performance of multiple decision methods
• Develop new data driven rules that optimize decisioning performance between Member experience and fraud prevention
• Work with cross-functional teams to deploy data driven strategies
• Work with business teams, operations, and product teams to implement new fraud prevention oriented features

What you’ll need:

• The fraud strategy analyst will be someone who is highly motivated and drives change, eager to learn and able to think outside of the box, and able to work collaboratively in a complex and fluid environment.  
• The candidate would need to be proficient in SQL, Python/R preferred. Understanding in statistical analysis packages and machine learning modeling concepts would be needed to drive strategies to balance Member experiences and loss prevention.
• Having prior experiences in fraud on financial products and/or information security space is a plus. Understanding of false positives and false negatives, concepts of different fraud types such as application fraud, account takeover, etc. is preferred.
