We are seeking a talented Senior Data Scientist to join our team of excellence in Machine Learning solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving complex and impactful projects within the company, providing insights, and leading strategic Data Science initiatives for the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our products. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a crucial role in discovering business opportunities, developing advanced predictive models, and implementing innovative solutions that ensure our superiority in the payments market. Initially, the candidate will work on solutions such as fraud prevention platforms, intelligent payment flow routers, anomaly detectors, among others.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects involving analysis of structured and unstructured data, from identifying requirements to final delivery, ensuring quality and accuracy of results.
  • Collect, clean, and transform large volumes of data into suitable formats for analysis.
  • Build and maintain machine learning models relevant to the payments industry, such as real-time transactional models, anomaly detection, routing optimization, and churn prediction.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and core business areas (fraud prevention, finance, commercial, products, and marketing) to define business problems and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Propose new projects, calculate their business value, and collaborate as a cooperative team player, establishing strong relationships with colleagues.
  • Document all developed code thoroughly.
  • Work on the operation and maintenance of our finished products and those in the value-generation phase, acting as an interface between our products and internal clients, welcoming their demands with a positive attitude and respect.
  • Train new members and career-transitioning collaborators.

Main requirements for this position:

  • Proficiency in writing complex code using languages such as Python, Pyspark, and SQL.
  • Relevant work experience with core compute and storage cloud services, preferably AWS.
  • Previous experience in designing and building supervised machine learning models using Random Forests, Boosting, XGBoost, SVM, or Deep Learning. Some experience with at least one of the main libraries/frameworks like Sklearn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.
  • Understanding of the trade-offs and implementation differences between batch and streaming processing.
  • Relevant work experience with AWS tools such as EMR, SageMaker, Lambda Function, Athena, DynamoDB, Sagemaker Feature Store, ElastiCache, and S3.
  • At least two and a half years of experience as a data scientist in the financial sector (banks, payment companies) or e-commerce. Internship phase should not be included in this reference period.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Diploma or certificate demonstrating theoretical coursework in data science, either through reputable online platforms like Coursera and DataCamp or through formal education.
  • Advanced level of English is necessary to enable conversations with vendors, clients, and foreign colleagues. Reading and writing documentation in English will be required frequently.
