As a Sr. Staff Data Scientist in the Data Organization, you’ll be taking a lead role in a cross-functional team that is responsible for understanding and empowering the future of Mozilla.

The Role

The Data Science team sits at the intersection of product, marketing, engineering, finance, business, and leadership. We collaborate closely with these partners to create impactful data products. As a leader on this team, you will serve as a data expert who can represent the function of data science broadly across Mozilla, while helping the team advance its practice.

As a Sr. Staff Data Scientist at Mozilla you will:

  • Drive the vision and execution of work, often to address ambiguous issues, that creates impact across organizations.
  • Generate data-informed insights and communicate these narratives with data to a range of technical and non-technical colleagues to influence decision making and uplevel data fluency across Mozilla
  • Apply a variety of statistical methods including causal inference to understand the intricate ecosystem of our users, products, partners, revenue against our large scale data to understand ecosystems, user behaviors, and long-term trends. Define, forecast, evaluate and report on key business metrics.
  • Build key data sets to empower operational and exploratory analysis.
  • Advocate for standard methodologies across the organization. 
  • Design and implement instrumentation and data models to improve product and business visibility.

Your Professional Profile

  • You have a background in quantitative analysis knowing how to analyze, visualize, and interpret data and have 4+ years of experience applying these skills in an industry setting. You have used forecasting or other predictive methods on large scale data. Working on machine learning in production is a plus. 
  • You have experience with extracting data from a variety of sources using SQL or SQL-like tools as well as scripting languages such as Python or R. 
  • You take stakeholder needs into account, bridging methodology and data into meaningful strategy from your analyses. You are a communicator who crafts impactful data narratives that inform company decisions around product, business, and finance.
  • You have a passion for a healthy web and the well-being of its users. You are conversant about the challenges and opportunities that exist where Mozilla has impact.
