The Yahoo Analytics, Research & Data Organization (YARD) is searching for a qualified, passionate and highly motivated Sr Data Engineer. We design, build, optimize and maintain data pipelines to transform large volumes of data into information for operational and financial decision making. This opportunity will require the individual to creatively approach problems from an analytical perspective in order to embrace our complex data ecosystem and deliver automated and scalable solutions in a fast paced, team oriented environment. Driven by your passion for data and your ability to embrace new and exciting programming technologies, you will work with both internal and external partners to define and craft innovative data pipeline solutions in support of our leading global digital advertising and consumer products.
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain high-performance, scalable data pipelines to transform large volumes of data into information for operational and financial decision making
Perform continuous integration to ensure that every step of a data pipeline is testable and automated
Propose and implement technical solutions and mentor colleagues
Participate in code reviews and design discussions
Understand and anticipate business needs and address issues reported by customers
Be accountable for your work
Required Skills/Experience:
Passionate about data and automation
Proficient within a Unix/Linux environment
Intermediate knowledge of programming languages (Python)
Intermediate knowledge of SQL (Vertica/Postgres/Oracle/AWS Redshift/MySQL)
Intermediate knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, PIG or Spark
Experience with ETL workflow orchestration processes and tools
Experience creating and maintaining data pipelines
Experience working on data-driven products
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong time management and prioritization skills
Preferred Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering preferred
Prior experience in a related analytics or developer role, digital advertising or media experience
Experience with Airflow
Experience with AWS or other cloud based environments

The compensation for this position ranges from $120,750.00 - $251,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
