Job Description

The Engineering Experience team at NBCU is defining and building a paved road of tools and systems to accelerate and optimize our software development teams and practices. As a member of our Cloud Enablement & Acceleration FinOps team, you will design, implement, and manage robust data pipelines to develop dashboards that deliver actionable insights into our infrastructure costs and utilization patterns. You will collaborate within our team, and with other stakeholders, integrating essential business metrics with detailed cost data to drive financial accountability and technological advancement. If you have a passion for working with Product Owners and Engineering teams to build high-quality, production-grade data pipelines, ELT processes, and dashboards that will inform strategic and operational decisions, we'd love to hear from you.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, experience, and training in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field
  • 5+ years' experience as part of a team building reporting, business intelligence, and analytics solutions
  • Applied experience with Public Cloud Governance and FinOps best practices
  • Applied experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, Tableau, Looker, or QuickSight
  • Applied experience analyzing cost and usage patterns of various systems that span across multiple clouds and data centers
  • Ability to understand the cost breakdown of infrastructure, cloud services, and other resources used by the applications
  • Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems
  • Practical knowledge and experience building and optimizing data pipelines leveraging new technologies, i.e. Python, AWS S3, Lambda
  • Excellent communicator and relationship builder to both business and technical teams
  • Passion for FinOps culture, automation, and modern tooling
  • A strong passion for learning and improvement
  • Strive for excellence and appreciation of detail

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong proficiency of Cloud Governance and FinOps best practices
  • Experience with cloud cost management tooling, i.e. Cloudability, CloudHealth
  • Basic familiarity with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) cloud platforms; ability to navigate and understand fundamental tools and concepts within these environments
  • Experience with modern build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests required. Continuous delivery experience preferred.
  • Experience delivering software using an agile development process
  • Ability to work and participate in a team with an open and collaborative style of communications
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team
  • Ability to jump into a project and contribute immediately to both architecture and implementation

  • Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.
