At Simplebet we treat data as a product - we maintain high quality datasets used by our machine learning engineers, product analysts, and adjacent software teams.
As we grow our business to cover new sports, new betting markets, and new sportsbook partners, Simplebet is looking for a Technical Product Manager to help set and deliver on Simplebet’s product roadmap for our Data Platform. As a Technical Product Manager on the Product team, you will work collaboratively across product, engineering and analytics to identify the data needed to support prioritized product roadmap initiatives, and build the Data Platform infrastructure, tooling, data management and data quality programs needed to enable data democratization, deliver actionable insights and make data-informed decisions possible.
The core of the role will be directing the Data Engineering team roadmap while balancing the needs of machine learning models, analytics enablement, and adjacent software team needs.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage the Data Engineering team product roadmap
- Work with a team of python and SQL engineers to prioritize and implement features of the data platform at Simplebet
- Work with the Data Program Owner to develop the long term vision for data infrastructure at Simplebet
- Suggest and implement standards/libraries for ETL and streaming to assist DE teams
- Maintenance, scaling and support of the data lake/data lakehouse
- Facilitate development and integration of data products for customers including product, analytics, engineering, sales, marketing, finance, and external customers
- Define and ensure required data standards are implemented that meet regulatory requirements for sports betting products
- Assist with build vs. buy decisions
- Collaborate and communicate with product team leaders and company executives
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- 2+ years of experience as a technical product manager
- 2+ years data engineering experience or demonstrated experience owning product delivery of a large scale data platform
- Experience working closely with product and engineering teams to prioritize scope and acquire new data sources
- Demonstrated history of solving complex problems involving data and technology
- Understanding of APIs for both internal and external use cases
- Understanding of data streaming technologies; experience in a company using Kafka a plus
- Advanced SQL skills; Databricks experience a plus
- Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, etc.
