As an Analytics Associate at Priorities, your primary responsibility will be to support the Competitive Media Tracking team in developing a data infrastructure, analyzing large datasets, and producing regular reports that inform the broader media program at Priorities. You will be part of a small team that thinks about the big picture, is constantly looking for ways to improve our work, and helps tell a story about what is going on in the 2022 election. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn and excited about solving a unique problem.

Responsibilities

    • Support Priorities’ partner organizations by providing analysis, reports, and visuals that explain the competitive media landscape. This may also involve interpreting data and providing strategic support. 
    • Maintain and build queries and scripts necessary to produce reports quickly and efficiently. 
    • Hand coding and categorizing data so that it is standardized and usable in a large dataset. 
    • Work collaboratively with a team to maintain Priorities USA’s competitive tracking toolset and the data pipelines that build it.
    • Report to the Reporting Manager and provide additional support to the analytics team as required. 

Qualifications

    • Dedicated to progressive causes.
    • Experience using data and numbers to formulate insights, preferably within relational databases. 
    • Experience writing memos and creating presentations that communicate data in a clean and easy to understand manner.
    • Experience with R and a familiarity with ggplot. 
    • Experience with SQL.
    • Keen attention to detail with an understanding of how to find and fix errors in code and data. 
    • Creative thinker and problem solver. 

Preferred Qualifications

    • Understands campaigns and has some political background (volunteering, for example). Experience working with Congressional campaigns strongly preferred.
    • Curiosity and passion for digital strategy, or past experience in digital advertising. 
    • Experience communicating with diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce, and bringing a sensitivity and appreciation of cultural differences. 
    • Experience with Python.
    • Experience with Github.
This position will have the option of being remote or working out of Washington, DC, with occasional travel as needed. We project the salary range to be $70,000-$80,000, but will be tailored to experience.
