Priorities USA is a progressive advocacy organization focused on promoting the Biden-Harris agenda, ensuring Democratic victories in 2022, and supporting and improving the progressive movements’ use of digital advertising. We believe in an economy that provides real opportunity for all families to get ahead, and to protect the fundamental, democratic ideal of equality for all Americans – regardless of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. With Donald Trump defeated, we’re looking for a team who wants to answer “what’s next?” and to help shape the next chapter of progressive campaigning.

As Priorities’ Data Engineer, you will be responsible for building flexible and scalable systems that allow our programs to grow and improve over time. You will become the organization’s optimizer in chief, ensuring that data moves around the organization and allows teams to reach voters and make smart decisions.

    • Experiencing building scalable and reliable data infrastructure that meets the needs of different stakeholders.
    • A clear point of view of how to communicate and document complex, technical processes.
    • Develop and streamline our internal data resources into more efficient and easier to understand taxonomies.
    • Audit and streamline existing processes so that they are more efficient and easier to understand.
    • Transform ad hoc processes and functions into packages that scale as our workload increases.
    • Ensure a high-level of accuracy through regular quality control.
    • Report to the Director of Analytics and provide additional support to the analytics team as required.

Qualifications:

    • 2+ years of experience in data, analytics, polling, or a similarly analytical field.
    • Expert Python or R skills with a preference for someone who has worked in both languages.
    • Strong SQL skills.
    • Familiarity with Git, or experience with other version control systems.
    • Experience in developing and maintaining ETL and data integrations from various sources into a data warehouse.
    • Demonstrated ability to document your work and ensure others understand how to use the system you build.
    • Exceptional attention to detail.
    • You notice when numbers don’t add up, and look into why not.
    • Experience communicating with diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce, and bringing a sensitivity and appreciation of cultural differences.
    • A passion for data visualization. You like making clear, clean and stunning graphics.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience building and documenting R or Python packages/modules.
    • Experience working with voter file data.
