Want to use your analytical skills and attention-to-detail to protect and expand Democratic majorities? Interested in developing hands-on data management and statistical modeling experience, and use those skills to make a difference? Eager to support a team using innovative methods to make a difference? Join Priorities USA as a Targeting & Analytics Fellow!

Priorities USA is a voter-centric progressive advocacy organization and service center for the grassroots progressive movement. We work diligently to uphold the right to vote and ensure that the political process is open to all citizens in order to build an economy that provides real opportunity for all families to get ahead, and to protect the fundamental, democratic ideal of equality for all Americans – regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. Priorities USA is putting in place long-term infrastructure to engage Americans of all backgrounds at all times, not just on election day.

We’re looking for fellows interested in learning how to use data and research to protect and expand Democratic majorities. This full-time, paid fellowship is a comprehensive learning experience designed to prepare you for a career in data science and analytics in the Democratic ecosystem. The fellowship program seeks to address barriers to entry for digital careers and is focused on people from marginalized communities who have been historically underrepresented in Democratic politics. Fellows will work alongside our team every step of the way as we launch actual programs that directly impact the 2022 midterm elections.

DURING YOUR TIME AS A TARGETING AND ANALYTICS FELLOW, YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

    • Participate in a training program designed to develop and teach skills needed to be a part of an analytics team.
    • Create analytics products, including memos, spreadsheets, data visualizations, and powerpoints for leadership and external partners.
    • Assist on qualitative research as needed (e.g. categorizing ads by creative content and copy, and tracking which organizations are spending on the midterm elections).
    • Support long-term Targeting and Analytics projects (e.g. data cleaning and collection).
    • Improve understanding of R, SQL, and/or Python.
    • Connect with campaign professionals and develop networking and job training skills to help you succeed in the industry.

THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS FELLOWSHIP SHOULD:

    • Have previous experience on political campaigns, advocacy, public service or a demonstrated commitment to progressive causes and electing Democrats up and down the ticket.
    • Have a desire to continue working in Progressive politics after the fellowship program concludes.
    • Have an interest in learning how to use data science, programming, statistics and qualitative research to help elect Democrats.
    • Have previous experience with or an interest in learning R, SQL and Python.
    • Have exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for detail. Have experience communicating with diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce, and bringing a sensitivity and appreciation of cultural differences.
    • Be willing -- and excited! -- to try new things, learn from successes and mistakes, ask questions, and adapt with new and changing information, in both the digital media and electoral landscapes.
    • Be at the beginning of your career—about to graduate college, just graduated, and/or less than four years in the workforce.

    • Applicants must be 18 years or older to be considered for this fellowship.
This is a full-time, paid position with full benefits. Fellows will be expected to commit to working full-time (40 hours per week) at Priorities throughout the duration of the fellowship. Benefits include employer-paid health insurance, paid time off and retirement benefits. Fellows will be paid $15,000 total ($2,500 per pay period) for the duration of the 3 month program (an annual rate of $60,000).

The fellowship begins Monday, August 15, 2022 and ends Friday, November 11, 2022. Priorities USA’s standard business hours are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm ET. The entirety of this fellowship will take place remotely.

Applications are due no later than Friday, June 24, 2022.

People of color, women, people who identify as LGBTQIA, people with disabilities, veterans, and people without a higher education degree are strongly encouraged to apply.
