Product Development Business Operations Data Analyst

2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year for PagerDuty Product Development Business Operations!  We have a newly formed team, an inspirational leader, and a clear Mission, Vision, and Values to guide us. We are on the search for an experienced Business Data Analyst to join our team to help us accomplish our crucial goals for 2022 and beyond.  The person who fills this role will be a pivotal player in shaping our journey to Operational Optimization through the use of data, metrics, and actionable insights.  The sky's the limit, and we need someone with ideas who knows how to take action to achieve results!

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Prod-Dev team on creating and executing on a data driven plan to “tell our story” on how PagerDuty’s Prod-Dev team is: hiring, retaining, performing, feeling, delivering, improving: Achieving Operational Optimization.  This role will own and be responsible for a big part of this key objective plus the ongoing delivery and evolution including but not limited to:
    • Participate and drive project initiatives to completion, including project planning and estimates
    • Data mining, extraction, exploring, consolidating, collecting (surveys if and when applicable)
    • Ensure reliability and quality of data 
    • Contribute to metric definition and iteration
    • Visualization and reporting of data
    • Analysis, Insights, and proposed actions.
  • Involvement in Engineering Hiring Plan execution: 
    • tracking and reporting progress, reporting on SLAs, partnering with TA on metrics and actions, escalating concerns
    • Job requisition prioritization 
    • Owner of the new graduate hiring process
  • Quarterly and monthly reporting: census updates, headcount updates, cost analysis by product group, budget consolidation, plus any additional net new as a result of the Operational Optimization project, all with a focus on improving the scalability of our reporting function.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks as the role evolves.

  • Business acumen: Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in relating complex concepts to non-technical users, including presentation and storytelling with data

  • A team player, willing to roll up their sleeves and take on new challenges, does not live within the boundaries of a job description.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education… Business or Information Management or Systems degree or equivalent analyst experience.
  • Expert in Google Sheets, Excel, SQL
  • Experience with Business Insights (BI) reporting and visualization tools at scale (Looker, Tableau, Sisense); Visual design expertise with a solid understanding of the best practices around dashboard and visual perception.
  • Solid understanding of how to consolidate and transform data to meaningful and actionable information
  • Ability to draw out meaningful business insights by synthesizing information from multiple sources
  • Someone who has managed components to critical project delivery in combination with day-to-day responsibilities.

Desired Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies 
  • Previous experience executing on a similar framework of Prod-Dev Operational Optimization.
  • Experience using and extracting data out of Application Lifecycle Management Tools (e.g. Jira)
