Ascension Seton is seeking an exceptional Data Analyst - Clinical Systems to join newly created Health Transformation and Design Program (HTD) at the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease (TCPCHD) of the University of Texas Dell Medical School and Dell Children’s Medical Center.  This a full time position that will report jointly to the physician and administrative directors of the Center.  This position will be fully on-site at the hospital.

The Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease (TCPCHD) is located at Dell Children’s Medical Center  and Dell Pediatric Research Institute. The TCPCHD clinical service is comprised of congenital heart surgeons, pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, pediatric cardiac intensivisits and pediatric cardiologists who [primarily] service the Austin and central Texas patient population. The HTD Program is the academic arm of the TCPCHD, that supports the patient centered longterm outcomes reporting and the clinical research for this patient population..

The Dell Medical School accepted its first class of 50 students in 2016, with the explicit aim of creating a vital, inclusive health ecosystem. As part of The University of Texas at Austin, one of the nation’s leading research universities, the Dell Medical School will pursue innovation in the redesign of healthcare delivery, excellence in healthcare research, and programs in interdisciplinary and interprofessional education. It will be the fifth medical school in the UT System and the first medical school established in nearly five decades by a member of the Association of American Universities, an organization of leading public and private research universities.  An extraordinary commitment of resources, both public and private, has already been made to enable the development and success of the Dell Medical School.  The Medical School is partnering closely with the community and regional healthcare providers and payers to provide new models for health promotion, healthcare delivery, and clinical care for the community’s underserved population.

Specific job responsibilities will include:

  • Work with personnel from the University of Texas Dell Medical School and Dell Children’s Medical Center to develop and maintain the necessary data infrastructure and application systems to support the research and clinical-based registries for the TCPCHD
  • Develop and maintain existing REDCap databases and associated reporting
  • Query and visualize clinical data for:
    • Outcomes analysis,
    • Operational support,
    • Research and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support the design and implementation of innovative software and database solutions to enable:
    • Efficient data collection and analysis of data for both short-term and long-term outcomes analysis,
    • Research and quality improvement projects for direct care providers as well as patients and families served by the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease
  • Manage the successful completion of assigned projects, including information systems development and support.
  • Provide and coordinate ongoing technical support to current and future care data systems for outcomes, research, and quality improvement needs.
  • Collaborate with the informatics and analytics staff at Dell Children’s Medical Center and Dell Medical School to create a data platform that allows seamless integration between different data sources and the outcomes, research, and quality data system.
  • Serve as liaison between the clinical team and the informatics and technology teams at Dell Children’s Medical Center and Dell Medical School.
  • Other related duties as assigned

Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Health Care, Social Sciences, or other related field
  • Five to seven years of programming and management or project management experience, should include:
    • the development of and management of performance quality indicators
    • database development (SQL and no-SQL)
    • software implementation in the biomedical field
  • System level knowledge of programming, OS operations, database query, and data mining experience
  • System level knowledge of server, applications, workstation, image modalities, and client-server networking
  • Strong working knowledge of REDCap
  • Experience with Tableau or a similar data visualization and analytics tool
  • One or more programming languages, Python preferred
  • Experience with clinical registries, health care projects, data analytics, creating quality and outcome reports and data visualization
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team


Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience preferred.
  • Seven years of information technology work experience in systems administration and programming required.


Additional Preferences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Health Care, Social Sciences, or other related field
  • Experience with predictive analytics and/or machine learning
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience with statistical software
  • Direct or indirect staff management
  • Cardiology and Congenital Heart disease
  • Business model planning and execution
