About the Team 

You will be part of an Analytics team that dedicated to supporting the Scattered Site Renovation (SSR) Operations. The team consists of three pillars, in-house consultancy, advanced analytics, and business intelligence. We are a group of skilled strategists, consultants, and analysts who work together to tackle our hardest problems. Our goal is to develop the next generation our business leaders who have the technical and business skills to succeed in any role. We act as a single unit to build trust, create solutions, and improve the quality of products and services Amherst offers. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Work directly with business owners to identify business problems that can be solved leveraging advanced analytics 

  • Support reporting and analytical initiatives for the Amherst SSR organization acting as the primary liaison for the business to the Business Intelligence and Technology teams 

  • Collaborate directly with business leaders and technology in developing descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytic solutions 

  • Interact with the business intelligence and other technology teams to prepare and automate recurring /ad-hoc reporting assignments and data requests 

  • Leverage analytical problem-solving skills in working with large disparate, datasets to design, develop and implement operational reports and metrics 

  • Present findings and recommendations to business leadership 

 

Required Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or any related discipline 

  • Advance degree (MBA, MS, etc.) is a plus, but not required 

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in data analytics roles 

  • 3+ years of SQL experience 

  • 3+ years of reporting/dashboard development (Tableau preferred) 

 

 

Qualification 

  • Experience analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations; financial services / investment banking industry experience is preferred 

  • Experience providing actionable insights by uncovering the stories contained in data 

  • Experience with presenting management dashboards and reports 

  • Experience communicating technical and non-technical requirements to business and technology team 

  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment while meeting established timelines 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to express relevant, technical concepts in a clear and concise manner 

  • Ability to see the big picture and effectively analyze complex issues 

  • Strong technical ability, willingness to learn and passion to evolve your skills with advances in Technology 

  • Analytical mindset and passion for gleaning actionable insights from raw data 

 

“Nice-to-Haves” 

  • Experience with at least one other data analytics programming language such as Python 

  • Familiarity with SCRUM or similar agile discipline 

  • Experience as a project, product, or program manager 

  • Knowledge of advanced data science concepts such as ML, AI, or NLP is a plus 

  • Knowledge of modern cloud data technologies (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.)
