The Data Platform team owns core pieces of our data infrastructure, pipelines, ML platform and data services underlying our product. We’re a distributed team with a diverse skill set, working cross functionally with many teams with a mission to deliver the best data products to our customers. The Data Engineering team sits at the core, owning crucial pieces of the data stack including data ingestion, data storage, data modeling and external data sharing. We provide the building blocks for other teams to utilize data for powering many technical and business use-cases. 

*This Data Engineer role can be full-time in our Burlingame, CA headquarters, OR remotely (remote candidates must be based in the United States).

Responsibilities & Compelling aspects of our team

    • Be part of a team of innovative engineers working on core pieces of our data infrastructure, pipelines, and data services underlying our product
    • Work on implementing and designing a data warehouse for all data use cases
    • Work with stakeholders on requirements and solutions for data modeling and data ingestion
    • And of course, you will be coding every day!
    • Lyra’s expanding internationally; currently using a lot of cloud services that may not scale for us properly down the road. The incoming Data Engineer can help us explore new ways to rewrite-and-build-new systems to support international scaling.

    • Unique challenges as a healthcare company in the areas of data privacy/data governance, tackling certain challenges around storing and sharing data that you will not going to see at other places.
    • Significant cross-team partnerships within Lyra; heavy collaboration focus. 

Qualifications / Critical experience

    • 2+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
    • Ability to write high-quality code in Python and a track record of shipping impactful data projects.
    • Experience in building fault-tolerant data pipelines with logging, alerting and data validation that goes beyond simple scripting
    • Understanding of MPP databases such as Snowflake, BigQuery or Redshift
    • SQL proficiency, including a strong grasp of SQL optimizations, data warehouses.
    • Must have an understanding of how data is (1) ingested, (2) managed within a distributed system, and (3) exposed to different stakeholders.
    • Ability to build data models using SQL for business analysts to consume with a data governance focus.
    • Data visualization experience a plus such as Tableau, Looker
    • A track record of making quality vs. deadline tradeoffs in fast paced environments
    • Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize what’s important for the team and business
    • Bachelor's degree in CS or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
