The Bestow Analytics team is looking for a Data Governance Analyst to provide transparency, readability, and security for all its data. This role will steward data from internal and external sources, working across the company to promote data quality and integrity.  
 
Our Data Governance Analyst will collaboratively establish and evangelize data standards, assist in writing policies & guidelines for proper data handling, help drive adoption of these practices, and quantitatively measure their impact.

A Little About the Role:

    • You will assist in writing data governance policies & guidelines that provide frameworks for proper handling and flow of data that effectively navigate the high standards dictated by a highly regulated industry.
    • You will assist in the stand-up of our data governance tool, which thorough and strategic documentation & tagging of data, developing an approach for role-based access controls, & ensuring significant & effective adoption of the tool at Bestow.
    • You will work daily with cross-functional teams (legal, engineering, insurance, product, data science) and leverage your strong communication & planning skills to ensure data is properly governed across the entirety of the organization.
    • You will work frequently in SQL to shape, pivot, and reprocess data from various sources into meaningful and usable tables.
    • You will assist in driving the adoption of data governance policies & guidelines and navigate the complexities arising from change management.
    • You will assist in measuring the impact of data governance by leveraging your knowledge of SQL, BI intelligence tooling, & strategic ways of thinking to quantify complex & nuanced data.
    • You will build strong connections across teams and let your curiosity and knowledge of governance & internal systems uncover new and/or more effective methods of governing data at Bestow.

What you will need to be successful:

    • An insatiable curiosity, continual learner
    • Proactive attitude - do what you know to do without someone telling you.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written & verbal (bonus if you have experience drafting contracts or other legal documentation)
    • Proven ability to explain deeply technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Proven record of working & communicating effectively with senior leadership.
    • Exceptional quantitative skills & fluency with data.
    • 1+ years in a data governance role.
    • 3+ years of data analytics, preferably working with engineers and data generators. 
    • Experience writing optimized and creative SQL queries to transform data.
    • Experience with columnar data warehouses (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)
    • Proficiency with business intelligence tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, etc.)
    • Bonus if you have professional experience with Python 3.
