As a member of the Marketplace Data Science team, you will help us understand, manage and build data assets that are foundational to the advancement of Indigo’s Marketplaces. The Marketplace Data Science team carries out analyses and builds the models & algorithms that underpin Indigo’s Grain & Transport Marketplaces. Our goal is to help our customers (buyers, growers & carriers) connect efficiently within Indigo’s Marketplaces, increase their profitability and have confidence that they are making well-informed decisions. All of this is towards the ultimate end of increasing their usage and adoption of Indigo’s Marketplaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish solid understanding of all data assets as well as our data vaults and marts
  • Discover potential data issues across our ingestion pipelines and help build automated monitoring solutions
  • Work across data science and engineering teams to understand data use cases and assist in proper execution of data warehousing
  • Build deep understanding of the agriculture industry, how local grain markets work and that the data that power them

Qualifications:

  • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with Python or R
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare messy datasets for analysis and visualization
  • Prior knowledge of or desire to learn visualization tools like Tableau and Looker
  • Attention to detail, and inclination to compose good written and visual communication
  • Ability to work in collaborative environment with cross-functional teams
  • Curiosity and drive to solve data-driven problems
  • Course work in databases, statistics, economics, computer science or related fields
