We are currently seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to join our Biological Products R&D data science team with a focus on agricultural field data. In this role, you will be a technical expert in the area of statistics, data analytics, and environmental characterization. You will work closely with a team of data scientists to transform data into knowledge for critical business decisions. You will work in close partnership with our field scientists to define and optimize our data processing pipeline and develop novel data analytic tools to help us mine diverse data to produce insights for product advancement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Indigo's pipeline process, data structures, analytical tools, and metrics
  • Together with project management and our field scientists, develop a clear understanding of our field data processes and milestones
  • Collaborate with field scientists to efficiently process and analyze our field trial data to drive time sensitive business decisions
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to automate our data workflow by merging data from other databases to our dedicated field testing database to enable comprehensive cross trial analyses
  • Contribute to the development of regional environmental characterization algorithms, and integrate code with our existing tools
  • Document algorithms, analytical tools, methods, and results with specificity and clarity, and provide training on new methods to the field scientists and other stakeholders
  • Build collaborative and transparent working relationships with our external stakeholders

  • Experience in application of statistical methods, such as linear mixed effects model, multivariate analysis, non-parametric analysis, to complex data sets
  • Team-oriented working style
  • Communicate both positive and negative issues in an open, direct, and straight-forward manner
  • Outstanding communication over phone and video conferences

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of work experience or Master’s degree + 2 year of work experience or PhD degree in biostatistics, agronomy, computational biology, environmental sciences, data sciences, or related fields
  • Highly skilled in R, SQL, and Python
  • Experience handling complex field trial or agricultural data
  • Experience with environmental characterization (soil, climate, etc) of field data

Nice to have:

  • Experience with AWS cloud computing
  • Experience with Snowflake data platform
  • Experience with machine learning techniques for feature selection and exploratory analyses (e.g, classifiers and regression techniques)
  • Experience with developing data visualization tools and platforms, such as Spotfire or R Shiny
