For this posting, we are looking for a data scientist engineer to join the Experimentation Analysis group within the Product Analytics organization. Randomized controlled experiments are a key tool used to inform decision-making at Udemy. The Experimentation Analysis group is a centralized team that oversees experimentation methodology and adoption throughout the company. As a data science engineer within the Experimentation Analysis group, you will be partnering with data scientists to build and maintain the internal tools that power scalable experimentation analysis within the organization. Success in this role requires a combination of statistical expertise, fundamental engineering experience, and strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with data scientists and software engineers to design and develop internal tools, libraries, and data pipelines for experimentation analysis
  • Provide hands-on guidance and advocacy for engineering best practices within the Experimentation Analysis group
  • Improve usability of experimentation analysis tooling through performance optimization, documentation, and tool refinement
  • Collaborate with data scientists on the implementation of complex statistical routines needed to perform experiment analysis.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of full-time experience with software engineering, data engineering, machine learning engineering, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures, theoretical and applied statistics, and numerical linear algebra
  • Proficiency with SQL and 1+ programming languages (e.g., Python or Java)
  • Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks like Hadoop and Spark.
  • Experience building automated big data pipelines using tools like Airflow, and dbt
  • Experience in design, development, and maintenance of production software systems
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, and able to learn quickly
  • Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders
  • Willingness to collaborate with team members across time zones

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience with machine learning operations
  • Experience with front-end development frameworks (e.g., ReactJS)

Minimum Salary Expectations: 122,000
