Quizlet offers an exciting 2022 Summer Internship Program from either June 6th - August 12th or June 27th - September 2nd. Our program is a 10-week paid internship that focuses on enabling students to advance their professional preparation through work experience, professional development, and mentorship. We have a fun summer planned for you with several events and workshops. You will work on real projects, features, and updates that will contribute to Quizlet and impact our 50 million+ users.
While Quizlet has offices in San Francisco, CA, Denver CO, and NYC, our internship program will be fully remote.
About the Data Science/ML Team:
Quizlet’s Machine Learning is core to Quizlet’s vision in being an AI tutor for everyone. We inspire, validate, build, and continuously improve ML/AI products to scale learning. Some things we’ve worked on include personalized learning experiences by modeling how students learn, smart assessment, and understanding our vast UGC study content (e.g. with subject classification). We make use of our unique data of billions of study interactions (per week!), learning science, diverse domain expertise, and many kinds of ML algorithms.
In this internship, you will:
- Help match students to relevant study content through search and recommendations
- Improve our search relevancy and functionality: including using Learning To Rank (LTR) methods, adding new behavioral and school/course signals utilizing our unique data, and building query understanding
- Build our understanding of course syllabi and sequencing to help students structure their studying
- Implement solutions in production: writing production tables/services or directly improving our production search ranking code in Hacklang
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience writing code in Python and SQL
- A solid understanding of various ML models
- A compassionate, team-player mentality; you see your growth and success entangled with the growth and success of your peers
- Rising Senior or Senior status (preferred)
Bonus points if you have:
- A proven track record of delivering impactful, production ML solutions
- Experience and fluency in search, recommendations and/or NLP
Compensation:
- Colorado candidates: Base pay for this role starts at $40 per hour. The actual pay may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience
