Extend is simplifying the technology stack for the extended warranty industry, in the same way that Stripe did for online payments and Affirm did for consumer point of sale financing.
Our API-first solution allows any merchant to offer extended warranties and protection plans, both online and offline, while also providing a merchant's end customers with a vastly improved and modern support experience that eliminates many of the issues customers face today with legacy underwriters. We are the trusted partner by household brands such a Peloton, JBL, Harman already and are just getting started.
About the Role:
This is a data scientist hire for the Optimization team in Extend's Revenue Analytics Org. The Optimization team aimed at driving additional revenue growth, optimize the company’s performance and deepen our existing merchant relationship with identified constraints. You will have the opportunity to help scale within the organization. The role's responsibilities will include:
What You Will Be Doing:
- Develop automation tools and models to streamline portfolio and merchant optimization
- Introduce scientific approach and methodology to improve optimization outcome
- Design A/B test and define data framework to evaluate prediction accuracy
- Develop a robust optimization and monitoring infrastructure, and use this infrastructure to assess, define, and scale optimization opportunities for different segments and for our top merchant partners
- Develop documentation of models, processes, and frameworks and continuously iterate with improvements
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organizations to establish the highest business priorities and opportunities by measuring expected reach and impact for operations focused teams
- Work with data engineering and product teams to ensure proper data tracking is set up for features and products, and support debugging and development of new ETL processes
- Support business operations, finance, revenue operations, and other internal teams by building analytics and reporting to understand overall business performance and increase organizational efficiencies
What We Are Looking For:
- 3-5 years of analytics, management consulting, finance, and/or strategic operations experience with a digital product or service
- Highly proficient in manipulating large data sets with SQL and Python, R or Julia, experience with Machine Learning and/or forecasting is a plus
- Proven record of delivering business value by operationalizing predictive models or automated tools
- Not afraid of operating in ambiguous environments and build up data framework from the ground up
- Strong written and verbal communication and not biased towards model documentation
- Ability to dive deep into data and communicate insights to audiences of all backgrounds
- A curious, entrepreneurial leader with plenty of grit, analytical prowess, creative thinking, and initiative
- Experience in the retail or fintech landscape is a plus
- Ability and interest in thinking beyond the revenue organization, considering the challenges of other teams, and prioritizing what is best for the business holistically, is essential
