As a Data Scientist, you will support Caterpillar Reman Team by utilizing the latest in Data Analytics technologies, such as Python, Azure CICD Pipelines, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kedro, and Power BI to develop a unique, robust and sustainable data solution.  This will include, Machine Learning, Export Transform and Load operations (ETLs), and dashboarding.  This position will be utilizing Agile Scrum Framework to execute quickly.  In this position you will be required to have/develop a deep understanding of both the business principles of Caterpillar Reman and technical capabilities of our continuously evolving analytics process.  The interaction between these two principles is where our team will enable the Caterpillar Reman business to lead the industry in data driven decision making and industry leading growth. This position provides a unique opportunity to interact with all aspect of the Caterpillar Reman Order to Delivery business and its support groups while developing and utilizing our technical process for all aspect of data driven decision making.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for providing business and system support to Caterpillar Reman business partners through business research and code development.
  • Following key technical standards when implementing a new process allow for sustainable integration into the team.
  • Personal development within the Reman Business process and technical skills to continuously improve our process and value.
  • Execute projects in a meticulous and timely manner.
  • Create/Improve reporting tools on various platforms to enable leadership to effectively monitor dealer performance, including Power BI.
  • Communicate with Customers to understand project scope and to develop appropriate solutions
  • Derive solutions utilizing Reman Analytics’ Python process which includes Kedro Framework, Azure DevOps, Docker, AWS, Snowflake, and Power Bi.
  • Active participate in Agile and Adhoc project planning and project execution activities.
  • Participate in Code Review, Knowledge Shares, and Project Showcases.
  • Documentation of project details and solutions.

Basic Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, statistics, engineering or related field.  
•    2+ years of previous technical experience in data analytics
•    2+ years of previous experience in data visualization
•    Experience deploying Python codebase, or equivalent language with eagerness to learn python.
•    Knowledge of SQL databases and queries
•    Demonstrated project management experience
•    Basic git proficiency

•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Strong customer focus
•    Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of groups including IT and Industry Partners.
•    Experience writing Data Pipelines with Python
•    Experience with Kedro Framework
•    Experience with a git-based workflow and collaborating on software projects.
•    Experience with Azure Build Pipelines, or equivalent ci/cd with willingness to use Azure Build Pipelines

Additional Information:
This position is a fully remote position however, some team events, training, and project support may require you to be onsite at a Remanufacturing facility (Corinth MS, Franklin IN, Fargo ND, Nuevo Laredo Mexico), Reman Analytics’ home site (Peoria/Mossville IL) or Caterpillar Headquarters (Irving TX).  The frequency will be determined by ongoing team planning events and scope of projects.

Travel will be less than 25%
