Role/Responsibilities

Role Summary
Ever wanted to turn a gas powered lawn mower into a space vehicle capable of reaching Mars? DO the concepts event-based, serverless, cloud-native and data lake(purified) set off any bells and whistles for you?

We are looking for a strong innovative data services cloud engineer who is looking to push the limits and be an integral part of rebuilding our data pipelines from ingestion to distribution using the latest cloud based technologies. This role will be a key contributor to the design and implementation of data engineering pipelines to ingest internal and external data sources and to facilitate the external systems for distribution to our customers. Ensure overall execution of enterprise grade operational data lake leveraging serverless technology stack. Will lead by the experience in development and product releases in a fast -paced, hyper growth environment. Should be hands-on and eager to make an immediate impact upon joining the team.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Be a key contributor in the overall architecture of the solution to insure its interoperability within Data Solutions platforms and other MA platforms
  • Able to operate within a lean agile team of cloud software engineers to partner with business and technology teams to design and develop scalable and highly available cloud-native solution
  • Design and develop cutting-edge enterprise data solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Design and code modern solutions to tough data challenges leveraging the cloud
  • Collaborate with sharp, passionate teammates, provide feedback on others’ work, and encourage innovation and best practices internally and externally
  • Automate CI/CD processes for cloud native and container-based applications
  • Develop systems to automate cloud operations and application support tasks
  • Provide world-class support across cloud engineering, operations and applications
  • Leverage tools such as JIRA and Confluence to track requirements and provide visibility into the development process Designing cloud-infrastructure architecture options for our data pipelines and stores
  • Further developing subject matter expertise in data and cloud architecture and technologies to support initiatives across the business vertical and company
  • Refining data-governance and compliance standards to ensure the security and auditability of the data platform
  • Learning, understanding, and assisting with the operational management of the existing on-premises data applications and infrastructure and migrate to serverless cloud architecture
  • Prioritize, self-direct and execute at velocity
  • Aggressively grow your skillset and expertise to meet emerging needs

Qualifications

  • Strategic partner: You take the big picture view, whether you’re participating in architecture migrations or maintaining critical relationships with vendors and business partners
  • Systems-level engineer: Working hand-in-hand with your business partners, you’ll develop technical requirements and design robust and flexible product and system architectures
  • BS or Higher in Computer Science or related technical field required.
  • Experience with Data practices and technologies including data lake, data warehousing, data integration patterns (ETL, services, messaging), analytics and business intelligence.
  • Proven and demonstrated experience in working with open source frameworks and developing native Cloud solutions.
  • Hands-on experience developing systems that leverage multiple AWS services including CloudFormation, Lambda, Python, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB/ any NoSQL, Relational Database Service (RDS), Glue Catalog & ETLs, Athena and QuickSight
  • Intermediate to expert-level knowledge of SQL, Python for serverless architecture in AWS (Lambda) and data engineering, Spark and AWS Glue for big data processing.
  • Working knowledge of integration patterns and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrate robust debugging skills, and enforcing strict standards for code quality on python (or similar) libraries.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and multi-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Data Analysts)
  • Proven and demonstrated experience with DevOps concepts (serverless architectures, site reliability, deployment automation, Containers & Kubernetes, cloud cost reduction strategies)
  • Innovative approach to solving complex issues and problems.
  • 5+ years of core experience in enterprise grade big data cloud programs delivering as an individual contributor.
  • Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
  • Industry Certification in AWS is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to translate technical concepts to business concepts and vice versa
  • Client focused, proactive, and results oriented
