Looking to do work that matters?
We get it – it’s why most people come to Cleo. Together we’re fighting for the world’s financial health, building an AI that helps our users make the best money decisions from day one. We’ve helped over 4 million people so far with personalised insights and a voice you don’t expect in FinTech. But it’s time to do more.
As we enter the next phase, we’re looking for more improvisers, data geeks and grown ups who want to own their work and create meaningful change.
What you’ll be doing
- Proactively investigating and identifying potentially fraudulent risk factors and trends.
- Using SQL to size the potential impact of specific fraud trends and to understand the user impact of mitigation strategies.
- Working with data science, analytics, engineering, and our customer champions to develop and implement fraud detection business rules and detection strategies that balance fraud loss and user experience.
- Leading reactive investigations and root cause analysis into events to identify product and business rule gaps and suggest risk mitigation actions.
- Using analytical tools to understand the precision and recall of existing rules, and optimising strategies to minimise user friction while maintaining low fraud rates.
- Developing and maintaining fraud investigation handbooks to consistently define what constitutes fraud on the platform and to identify the appropriate product response to fraud.
- Ensuring that the fraud prevention strategy is being uniformly and consistently applied across products by monitoring false positive rates.
About You
- Have at least two years’ experience in financial fraud within the payments or e-commerce space and familiarity with security risk areas like card testing, account takeovers, phishing, etc.
- Have an understanding of common card-not-present and US ACH fraud schemes and mitigation strategies
- Are proficient in SQL (at least a basic level) and some dashboarding / data visualisation tools
- Enjoy problem solving and have a knack for pattern recognition
- Employ a customer-centric focus and creative thinking skills to suggest pragmatic mitigation strategies
