Varsity Tutors is looking for a Head of Operations Analytics with a background in Operations Research and Management Sciences. The vision of this team is to determine which Varsity Tutors consultant is best suited for each customer inquiry and ensure that we have sufficient consultants available to meet the demand across subjects and time of year. 

We develop automation and algorithms that involve learning from large amounts of past data, including inquiries, sales, prices, promotions, in order to forecast the demand for our tutoring and classes, and use these forecasts to determine the level of investment in our marketing channels, workforce planning, and determining financial performance. 

We are looking for a proven leader to help lead our Operations Analytics team as we deliver our Forecasting and Optimization platform. We're looking for a leader who combines exceptional technical and analytical capabilities to lead a team that will be integral to the continued business growth of the Sales and Consulting Organization. As the Head of Operations Analytics, you will be responsible for leading a team of analysts and data scientists in the design, development, testing, and partnering with engineering on the deployment of models. 

You will have an opportunity to work on large mathematical problems and guide the team to solve linear and mixed-integer problems to find optimal solutions to build decisions given capacity constraints and the demand distributions. You will also drive process changes to support increasing automation and smarter optimization. You are an individual with outstanding analytical abilities, communication skills, and are comfortable working with technical teams and systems. You will be responsible for leading the team that does researching, experimenting, prototyping, and analyzing forecasting strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the analytics team to deliver on the goals and roadmap for the Forecasting and Planning Org.
• Collaborate with the Engineering and the Sales teams to deliver the optimal solutions.
• Influence organization's long term roadmap and resourcing, introduce new technologies, and mentor a team of analysts.

Basic Qualifications

• M.S in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Management Science or a related field with 2+ years of industry experience.
• 5+ years of work experience in areas such as data analytics, operations research, forecasting, machine learning and large scale simulation.
• Demonstrated use of modeling and optimization techniques tailored to meet business needs and proven achievements in industrial production systems.
• Proficiency in Python or other modern programming language
• 3+ years of direct people management experience including duties such as performance evaluation and career development.
