Guild is hiring a Lead Data Governance Engineer. This role will collaborate with the Data Governance team and partner in and/or lead multiple organization-wide data governance initiatives and be responsible for the platforms to ensure data quality, metadata management, and lead the protection of sensitive data and information assets.

As a Lead Data Governance Engineer, you will:

  • Lead evaluations and recommendations of new and emerging data governance and protection technologies that can be maximised to meet the data quality & governance services required of Guild.
  • Partner with solution architects and lead the technical analysis, design, code, implementation and automation of solutions that power Guild’s data governance, data catalog, end to end data lineage, data quality management including scorecards,data access, data retention/deletion, and data protection services.
  • Provide technical expertise that helps accelerate the adoption of the best engineering practices in data governance and protection.
  • Lead in collaboration with other engineers the installs, upgrades, test, and maintenance of data catalog and other data governance platforms
  • Lead the data quality & governance platforms and ensure configuration standards meet Enterprise Architecture Guidelines (performance, extensible, API enabled, etc.).
  • Supervise DG systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensure that Data Governance policies and procedures are adhered to for onboarding data subject areas defining clear data classification and data ownership.
  • Build repeatable processes and systems to support data audits and data privacy consistency requests.
  • Identify areas of continuous improvement and automation in data quality and governance space
  • Work with team members at different levels to assist with data quality solutions
  • Be responsible for Metadata content in the Business Glossary - data definitions and data classifications
  • Be responsible for leading and implementing Master Data Management initiatives
  • Work to ensure data quality and non-bias in ML models

You will be successful in this role if:

  • You are a guide at leading multiple engagements to craft and develop Data Governance technology solutions that span data quality, data dictionary & business glossaries, data standards and policies; data lineage and catalogs, master data management, cloud data platforms, responsible AI and ML Ops processes; experience with one or more of the following or equivalent technologies – Informatica, Collibra, Alation, Zaloni;
  • You have the expertise in creating Data Quality/validation Pipelines for real-time data and integrating with data pipelines.
  • You have dynamic years of data engineering & technical experience writing complex SQL queries and programming in Java/ Python; expertise validating different formats of data like XML's, JSONS, Avro etc.
  • You have hands-on experience working on Cloud-Based technologies (AWS/S3) including Snowflake
  • You have experience with ETL & BI tools (Looker) for developing reports and dashboards.
  • You have a deep understanding of DevOps principles, Data Management, and Governance standard methodologies.
  • You own self-development, know the latest data validation techniques and tools, and demonstrate out-of-the-box thinking.
  • You are strategic at navigating highly complex, ambiguous problems with little to no existing structure and building roadmaps and frameworks to create scalable solutions.
  • You have the self-motivation, independence, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and unstructured environment with undefined or evolving processes and procedures.
  • You are a self-starter, passionate about making a difference

Minimum qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in relevant skills gained and developed in the same or similar role.
  • Experience implementing and configuring technologies like informatica, Collibra, Alation, Immuta, BigID, or equivalent data catalog and data management tools
  • Experience building data pipelines, custom ETL processes, data warehouses, and table architecture
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Understanding of enterprise data governance technologies and protocols
  • Ability to implement platform upgrades and migrations
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills

Preferred Proficiencies:

  • Data Management certifications (e.g. DCAM, CIMP, CDMP); data management tools certification
  • Understanding and experience with one or more compliance areas – CCPA, GDPR, data privacy and security standards;

We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $175,000-$197,500, as well as company stock options.
