The Advanced Machine Learning team builds scalable state-of-the-art deep learning and distributed ml systems. You will lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, optimize, and productionize best in class machine learning tools and put Roofstock ahead of the competition. As an early hire in the advanced ML group, you will be responsible for architecting and implement projects that augment human intelligence such as image and text analysis, big data record linkage and clustering, deep learning recommendation engines, and more. Thus, we are looking for someone with a solid experience in developing commercial large-scale machine learning systems.
What you will do:
- Collaborate across teams to architect, build, and deploy machine learning solutions in distributed machine learning frameworks such as Spark
- Take ownership of and drive technical projects to completion: anticipating roadblocks, developing strategies to mitigate risk, and making trade-off decisions between different modeling approaches and between short-term results and long-term goals
- Translate ambiguous business needs into structured problem statements and testable hypotheses
- Provide constructive and actionable feedback to team members; lead the adoption of industry standards and best practices within the team
- Mentor junior colleagues and evangelize machine learning/statistical literacy in the organization and beyond
What you bring with you:
- MS or PhD in computer science/engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing, building, and deploying to production distributed and deep learning frameworks and libraries such as Keras, PyTorch, Horovod, Ludwig, Ray, MXNet, bytePS. Bonus: proficiency in one of the top three cloud computing platforms.
- 4+ years of experience building machine learning models in python in a commercial setting; experience in another relevant language like Scala a plus
- Strong fundamentals in statistics, and probability; ability to take a broad challenge and break it down into solvable components
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, rapidly prototyping and testing new ideas
- Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills to effectively present, explain, influence, and advise within cross-functional teams
- Drive to solve problems, meet deadlines, and build whatever is necessary along the way
