As a Manager of Business Intelligence and Analytics, you will lead a team of data analysts to build the next generation reporting infrastructure that improves data accessibility, readability and facilitates data democratization at Roofstock. You will need to grow the team as you structure the roadmap for the team based on the business needs. You will need to be skilled at managing the communication between the DW team, the business teams and the application engineering teams; managing priorities and have excellent project management skills. This role would be 50% hands-on and 50% managerial. Candidates are expected to have proven experience in hiring, building, growing and managing successful data teams.

Ideal candidates will have experience in identifying and navigating organizational changes, a keen interest in trends in engineering, business and leadership, and a growth mindset.

They must be an experienced analytical engineer who enjoys data wrangling and is self-driven to provide great reporting content to cross-functional teams at scale and loves building solutions from the ground up. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.

What You Will Do:

    • Lead the team in managing analytic projects end to end and continue to provide monitoring and support for production artifacts
    • Be responsible for data quality and readability of data in presentation layer, analyze and trace data discrepancy to root cause and develop solutions to resolve.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across business teams (Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance, Business Development, Product etc) and the relevant business partners to gather requirements and prioritize projects
    • Develop roadmap for the analytics team and deliver on it
    • Prepare, review, and maintaining project requirements and specification documentation and reporting related data dictionary
    • Build database solutions that encourage self-service in analytics and data science
    • As a hands-on manager you will not only be implementing technical solutions directly, but your technical experience will help validate the code and solutions the team develops
    • Be a conduit for executive messaging of quality reporting solutions in timely fashion
    • Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to on the vison for data democratization and build to help realize that.
    • Coach and mentor team members by giving them actionable feedback, setting clear goals, and coordinating project work with other teams and managers
    • Manage team members that are situated globally and provide support as necessary.

What You Bring With You:

    • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, Statistics or closely related field.
    • 10+ years of professional experience in the data domain with significant experience working as an individual contributor earlier in your career developing data solutioning for business intelligence and analytics.
    • 3+ years of experience managing business intelligence teams.
    • Extensive experience developing solutions on modern cloud based databases, technologies and visualization tools (Snowflake, DBT, Python, Airflow, Tableau/Looker/Periscope/PowerBI)
    • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
    • Experience designing data packages and building reporting suites for executives, leadership and across various business teams in the organization.
    • Experience in setting up data controls and data accessibility roles in the presentation layer for scalability
    • Experience in building in-house reporting systems is a plus
    • Highly proficient in SQL, query optimization and performance tuning of large queries.
    • Familiarity with analytical data modeling, data warehouse design and implementation is a plus
    • Ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You should be able to explain your approach and the impact of your work to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Proven recruiting experience as a hiring manager with the ability to attract talent and develop high performing teams.
    • Analytical mindset and strong skills in prioritization of engineering investments that lead to maximum impact
    • Passion for real estate: You have an interest in real estate, enjoy talking about it, getting into the details, and learning more about the space.
    • Startup Mindset: Experience working at smaller companies that have gone through rapid growth, and you are comfortable wearing many hats.
