The Location Data Analyst is responsible for growing and maintaining job location data to improve the job search experience for millions of Indeed job seekers. The Location Data team develops innovative solutions that improve the location accuracy of Indeed’s geographic data. Using data analysis and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills, you will work with a variety of geographic data sources to create world-class location services that will power Indeed products. As an ideal candidate for this role, you are a detail-oriented, creative, resourceful and technologically savvy data analyst who lives and breathes spatial data.

Responsibilities

• Develop large databases of geographic information
• Evaluate accuracy of geographic data and geocoders
• Find, clean, and geocode large datasets with an aim to automate processes and improve efficiency
• Analyze job listings to obtain more accurate geographic data
• Work with offsite scaled operations to ensure quality of data
• Suggest ways to improve and scale products and internal tools

Who You Are

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, or GIS certification
• 3-5 years experience in a Data Analyst or GIS role with a focus on large-scale spatial data analysis and open source solutions
• Expertise in contributing to and querying SQL relational databases
• Experience developing automated processes with python
• Experience sourcing, assessing, and integrating spatial data from diverse data sources
• Experience analyzing large-scale datasets
• Experience geocoding addresses and improving geocoding processes
• Strong background in research and analysis, problem solving, and conceptual thinking abilities
• Strong focus on detail and precision—a passion for getting things correctly
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Comfortable in technical environments and desire to learn new systems as needed
• Honed time-management skills and demonstrated success in handling multiple priorities
• Ability to balance quick decision making with attention to quality and accuracy
• Experience collaborating on a team with a common goal

Preferred

• Master’s degree in Geography or GIS or equivalent work experience
• Active participation in OpenStreetMap community as a contributor or editor
• Subject matter expertise on geographic locations in one or more foreign markets
• Experience with JIRA and Confluence
• Experience with QGIS
• Experience with Java
