Who We Are, What We Believe, & What We Build
Guidewire is the AWS of insurance. As the market leader, 380 insurance companies run on our mission critical platform. Every second, we support underwriters crafting policies and adjusters settling claims. We believe that making a great decision should not require 100 in-house data scientists. Our products range from cyber risk quantification to potent ML sandboxes. We are a post-IPO company with the vision to revolutionize insurance, and analytics is a huge part of this. There is a lot to be done!
This role is a fantastic opportunity for an intellectually curious, experienced and ambitious data engineer to drive all technical aspects of a strategically critical capability at Guidewire related to large-scale data ingestion and modeling that supercharges insurers’ underwriting, customer acquisition, and claims management abilities. We aim to be the data store for any underwriting, pricing and data intelligence workflows. We are doing the hard work, giving our customers access to dozens of data sources curated specifically for the P&C sector and expose data elements that enable strategic decision-making and data-driven decision support.

You are a talented and highly experienced Data Engineer. You have hard-won experience of all technical aspects of bringing a successful data product to market. You take pride in delivering high quality code, you love elegant design, and you have a passion for data. You have the personality and technical chops to lead from the front in a talented and ambitious team. You will thrive in a fast-paced Agile work environment.

    • Champion robust engineering practices within the team for building, deploying, and supporting sophisticated data products.
    • Be a coach and mentor to the other data engineers, explaining best practices and building awareness of the latest tools and techniques.

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent level of demonstrable professional competency
    • Significant experience in a senior or lead engineering role on a successful commercial data product.
