The annual base salary for this position ranges from $130,300.00 in our lowest geographic market to $308,500.00 in our highest geographic market. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate's location, qualifications, skills and experience.

Within the Human Resources function, the People Analytics & Insights team is responsible for helping NIKE deliver on its consumer mission to Serve Athletes* through the expansion and execution of a robust people data agenda. The team consists of experts in Analytics Integration and Consulting, Research & Data Science, Employee Listening & Sensing and Scaled Analytics. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Principal Researcher to join our People Research team within the broader People Analytics & Insights organization!

The skills this person will bring to this role include deep domain expertise in economics, I/O psychology, decision science, applied math, or other organizational or quantitative field. This candidate will be expected to deliver expertise in research design and execution coupled with strong consulting skills to connect research insights to organizational decisions that can lead to multi-million-dollar impact. In particular, we are looking for someone skilled in proactively recognizing high value research opportunities across a wide variety of different business processes, organizational designs and internal and external labor markets.

Experience within a People Analytics team or working on related organizational use cases is preferred. We also have a strong preference for researchers with experience or orientation towards building scalable products as we strive to put the power of organizational science into the hands of the many decision makers across NIKE.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

In this role you will be primarily responsible for architecting a diverse portfolio of data science and statistical modeling projects that span all aspects of the NIKE workforce. This person will be the lead consultant in designing projects that begin with the business challenge or imperative and then explore the ways in which employee attributes, sentiment and actions influence those outcomes. Research focus areas include productivity, attrition, collaboration, networks, performance, compensation, culture, and other key organizational topics.

Within the People Research team, the ideal candidate will partner with our senior and junior data scientists to identify, analyze, and interpret a wide array of structured and unstructured data. This candidate is skilled in both advising and driving these analyses, with proven experience translating complex research findings into actionable insights and data-driven narratives digestible across all levels of the organizational structure.

As the face of the People Research team, the Principal Researcher will also provide consulting and thought partnership on quantitative research and analytic methods to People Analytics & Insights teammates and internal partners in NIKE’s growing research community. The ideal candidate is also well versed in emerging research and analytic methods, with an emphasis on innovation that will drive the next generation of People Research products and insights.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

This role sits on the People Research team and will report to the Director of People Research. Internal to the People Research team, you will work closely with other principal researchers and data scientists on research design and implementation, along with the day-to-day production of data pipelines, statistical models and predictive algorithms. As the face of the People Research team, this candidate will also provide thought partnership on quantitative methods to People Analytics & Insights teammates and serve as a trusted consultant and partner across the HR function more broadly. We are looking for someone with the ability to establish relationships and collaborate on high-velocity projects with partners internal and external to the People Research team will be critical to the success in this role.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • PhD or equivalent in a social science or related quantitative field with 6+ years of experience researching and consulting.

  • One of the following alternatives may be accepted: Master’s degree and 10+ years in advanced analytics team with demonstrated mastery of an academic field.

  • Proficiency in a diverse set of quantitative tool sets. These may include but are not limited to: traditional frequentist statistics (GLM and related families, experimental design, machine learning techniques (clustering, random forest, neural networks, etc.), Monte Carlo and other simulation techniques, forecasting, Bayesian statistical approaches, etc.

  • Expertise or deep familiarity with Python, R, STATA, or comparable statistical programming platform.

Preferred

  • Experience consulting for impact in large organizations

  • Experience in HR or People Analytics
