Techstars is looking for an ambitious, flexible, finance professional to jump in and get their hands dirty in all aspects of investment valuation and data analysis for Techstars’ portfolio companies and venture funds. This is a great opportunity for someone to join a fast-growing global organization, make an immediate impact, and if successful have advancement opportunity as we grow.  The Senior Analyst will be responsible for various tasks and activities supporting Techstars’ venture capital funds, internal investment vehicles and 40+ accelerator programs around the world. This person must thrive under tight deadlines, while continually considering ways to automate and process improve. This position will report to the Director of Valuation & Investment Data. 

Responsibilities:

  • Create new financial models to forecast fund performance and cash flows
  • Support corporate partner relationships with review and analysis of portfolio company data, valuations, and portfolio performance in preparation for quarterly partner portfolio review meetings
  • Maintain and improve existing financial models
  • Support monthly Finance & Accounting Team processes including investments valuation, tax forecasting, and cash forecasting
  • Develop and maintain ad-hoc reports and financial models
  • Cash flow modeling of fund strategies, including capital call timing & size, realizations, unrealized value, fund expenses, IRRs, etc.
  • Support responses to requests and inquiries of limited partners and corporate partners Work with Investor Relations in preparation of presentation materials, information posted to investor website, fundraising documentsUnderstand investment transactions, how to analyze, benchmark, summarize and report
  • Oversee quarterly valuation process, running a strict timeline and coordinating with multiple department heads
  • Build and oversee robust investment forecasting models to ensure visibility in investment activity cashflows
  • Fulfill data requests and analysis from various interested external parties
  • Assist with ad hoc projects for the Investment team, Finance, Senior Leadership, and Sales teams to help drive decision making across the organization.
  • Build complex financial models.
  • Assist with preparing complex valuation models using various methodologies.
  • Assist with preparing materials in advance of quarterly valuation meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance and/or a quantitative field such as Math, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering or Economics with 5+ years of experience or equivalent
  • Strong financing modeling skills required
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Experience with Salesforce and Carta preferred
  • Ability to analyze large datasets
  • Strong attention to detail
  • General understanding of valuation methodologies specific to venture capital and application to complex capital structures
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to see and understand the bigger picture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills with capacity to learn quickly
  • Strong ability to communicate with stakeholders across functions and at all levels
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve and take complete ownership of work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to adapt to an evolving 

Compensation range: $90,000 - $105,000 + 10% Bonus
