Job Summary

Techstars is a global investor that identifies and nurtures startup companies from the earliest stages all the way to IPO. The Techstars enterprise data platform is being built from the ground up on modern, cloud-based technologies with support from the highest levels of management to revolutionize the use of data throughout Techstars. We are looking for a person to drive the strategy for the next generation of Techstars network and relationship data analytics tools and machine learning workflows on this enterprise platform. 

In this role, you will be responsible for defining a strategy for and implementing our internal person and startup company network data solutions (including ML and AI solutions) that will allow Techstars to better enable future success for entrepreneurs, wherever they are in their journey. You will work closely with design and engineering, in agile scrum teams, to rapidly deliver value through multiple levels of decision making, including what data strategy provides maximum value to stakeholders, prioritizing a data team’s backlog, and signing off on acceptance criteria by engaging with strategy, design, analytics, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the business problems that need to be solved by working directly with business stakeholders.
  • Design data solutions that solve the business problems, while taking into account value to business, trade-offs and cost/benefit of different solutions, and scalability.
  • Translate the data solutions into actionable engineering requirements through a strong partnership with your data engineering lead, your own technical and analytical acumen, and your knowledge of the data.
  • Facilitate the execution of the solution by working directly with the engineering team to prioritize and plan sprints
  • Communicating how and when the data solutions provide value to the business or customers through detailed strategic product roadmaps, company updates, and sprint reviews.
  • Create detailed strategic product roadmaps that communicate incremental value delivered to the business or customers

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience working with data engineers in an agile environment
  • Degree in Engineering, Comp Science, Mathematics, or related field
  • Experience successfully defining, building, and launching an enterprise data solution
  • Experience working heavily with CRM systems
  • Experience with data modeling, statistical analysis, ML model development 
  • Experience with Jupyter and/or Apache Zeppelin, Hadoop, Spark or similar systems
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to learn and use the terminology understood by diverse audiences
  • Ability to interact with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines and work well with all levels of leadership

Compensation range: $105,000 - $125,000 + 10% Bonus
