This position lends technical expertise to internal and external business partners in support of company analytical needs. This position provides technical direction, design and development of all reporting, dashboard, data analytics and business intelligence offerings, including the enhancement, support and training for the department. This position is responsible for data analysis functions including defining, designing and delivering ad hoc and production reports, data governance and quality, and overseeing the technology tools and architecture for business intelligence and key performance metrics.
Position is also in charge of maintenance and development of departmental applications at a programming level in order to accommodate evolving business needs. Also responsible for finding ways to optimize business process and workflow.

How you will make an impact:

    • Provide process improvement leadership for divisional and enterprise projects. Candidate will possess a variety of process improvement skills and tools along with the knowledge of when, where and how to apply such tools.
    • Oversees the on-going administration of several data warehouse/data mart technology environments and internal departmental applications from the business and end-user’s perspective.
    • Works with business decision makers to ensure databases and reports have accurate and consistent content that is formally accepted by the business owners of the data.
    • Gathers reporting requirements and suggests report design approaches.
    • Provides project oversight on various application development projects and data needs supporting customer facing applications, business to business applications and research programs.
    • Develops custom scripts, tools and queries for data manipulation, system automation, and analysis using an array of SQL, Excel, as well as other 3rd party tools. Integrates with existing systems such as Business Objects and the departmental operations applications.
    • Creates report frameworks and automates business processes internally for the department in order to increase and optimize the efficiency of existing day to day administrative duties

What we look for:

    • A Bachelor’s or graduate degree in an appropriate technical field (Data Science, Statistics, Data Analytics, MPH, and Health Plan Administration) is required
    • A minimum of 3 years’ related experience.
    • Must be able to interpret financial and operational data (leading and lagging factors) by relating BPM initiatives impact to enterprise goals.
    • Excellent analytical skills, including ability to use business intelligence tools
    • Must be able to build spreadsheet models, and sort through complex data
    • Skillful at presenting analyses to business decision makers
    • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities, problem solving, negotiation, task and project coordination along with organization skills
    • Enterprise Data Warehouse experience with a comprehensive working knowledge of data implementation
    • Health care claims systems experience
    • Advanced knowledge of Access and Excel
    • Highly proficient in SQL skills with ability to manipulate and analyze high-volume, high-dimensionality data form various sources using a variety of tools and data analysis techniques.
    • Fluency in SQL coding, Excel, and a working knowledge of Python and R
    • Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools in addition to BI tools such as Business Objects (SAP) is highly preferred
    • Familiarity of data science and statistical methodologies
    • Understanding of different types of data models
    • Fundamental understanding of data management systems and processes within the ecosystem is a plus
    • Basic understanding of IT applications, systems, infrastructure and technologies is a plus
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
    • Ability to document business process, use cases, business requirements, functional specifications and test scripts/results
    • Excellent business liaison skills. Ability to explain complex issues/systems to users in concise and simple language.
    • Ability to build strong working relationships with cross functional teams: data stewards, architects, data governance, data modeler, data quality, development, tech lead, and QA team to address data and mapping questions
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team to support deadlines.
    • Ability to evaluate, define and prioritize projects and tasks.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, some unstructured and non-routine requiring creative solutions.
