We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our growing Analytics Squad. The squad's main focus is to support all of Wattpad's business units and product squads, from building ad-hoc reporting to metrics creation to forecasting and predictive insights projects. The goal is to advocate for and facilitate data-informed decision-making throughout the organization.

 

In this role, you will take technical business problems and condense them into an understandable format. You will help ensure decisions at Wattpad are based on data, and create an understanding of why our data behaves in certain ways. Data is critical to how we make decisions at Wattpad and you will play a key role in helping Wattpad continue to scale!

What you'll be doing:

• Lead analytics initiatives on user behavior and product usage patterns
• Develop data models, query and analyze data from disparate sources to find actionable insights. Make strategic recommendations to business partners and function as a thought-partner
• Propose, prototype and implement new metrics that allow stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of our users and the business
• Partner with product teams on design, evaluation and execution of experiments and their analysis
• Conduct data deep-dives into user behaviours, user journeys and product usage

What we're looking for:

• 4+ years experience in a data analyst, product analyst, or related analyst role, working in a rigorous data-driven environment. 
• Advanced technical proficiency with SQL and query optimizations
• Fluency in Python or R 
• Firm grasp of statistical concepts like Hypothesis Testing, Statistical Significance and probability distributions
• Experience with data visualization/BI tools (such as Tableau, Periscope, Looker etc.)
• Experience building custom models to solve business problems such as analysis, forecasting, clustering, etc
• Strong communication skills with ability to effectively synthesize, visualize, and communicate your ideas to your various stakeholders
• Curiosity towards experimenting with new techniques in data and keenness to learn and share with the team
