The Senior Analyst in the Business Insights team will be responsible for both discovering and effectively communicating insights that support Guidewire’s continuous efforts to innovate and improve.  This role will focus on the information needs of the senior management team and will take on a broad range of projects and subject matter.  The analysis will often involve complex and uncurated data sets.  The research will often cross departments or business units, and require a broad background in SaaS company operations. All work produced by the Senior Analyst should be transparently reproducible.  The Senior Analyst will be responsible for all phases of the project.  This includes articulating the starting hypothesis, wrangling the data best suited to evaluate that hypothesis, modeling and visualizing those data, and then communicating the key findings and recommendations back to stakeholders.

Qualifications

    • Exceptional analytical, technical, and presentation skills.
    • Curious, collegial, collaborative, meticulous, and influential.
    • 2-5 years of experience producing transparent and reproducible analysis.
    • Proficient in SQL and other analytical languages such as R, Julia, Python, and Git.
    • Formal training and real-world experience using statistical analysis.
    • Ability to train, test, and evaluate predictive models and then articulate business value of both the models and their predictions.
    • Broad knowledge of SaaS business operations: e.g. Sales Funnel, Marketing Attribution, Support Case Management, Services Projects, Cloud Operations, and Product Usage and Adoption.
    • Expertise in Salesforce data model and CRM processes is a plus.
    • Expertise in AWS Cost and Usage data is a plus.
    • Reports to Senior Director of Business Insights.

Responsibilities

    • Bridge the gap between information needs of the senior management team and the data collected by the business.
    • Own the research from beginning to end.
    • Partner with stakeholders to articulate information needs and hypotheses.
    • Write code to wrangle, model, and visualize data.
    • Present findings and recommendations back to stakeholders.
    • Develop original research that proactively supports innovation and improvement.
    • Prioritize potential research based on complexity, effort, estimated value, and alignment to strategic goals of business.
    • Collaborate with teams across Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product, and Operations to improve processes, systems, and data quality.
$130,000 - $196,000 a year
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
