About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer (Full-Time Contractor) based in South America for our Data Engineering Team. This role will be responsible for architecting scalable data storage solutions and the management, automation, and security of these solutions. The engineer in this role will also be responsible for understanding and implementing best practices and creating technology that is highly performant and extensible. This is a great opportunity to work with an amazing team and drive the data platform supporting our applications and analytics systems.

In this position, you will:

• Architect and administer replication between heterogeneous databases.
• Advise on transactional database design for live systems.
• Plan for high availability, disaster recovery, and efficient cluster sizing.
• Administer our MySQL and PostgreSQL relational databases in AWS RDS.
• Administer our AWS DynamoDB tables.
• Administer our Redshift based data warehouse.
• Manage and automate secure access to databases for humans and systems.
• Build reporting tables in Redshift.
• Build data eventing streams and ingestion pipelines using Kafka.
• Optimize tables, indexes, and queries.
• Monitor scheduled data batch jobs.
• Define and apply data governance across our ecosystem.
• Automate database configuration using infrastructure as code.

Qualifications: 

• Required Skills:
  • Logical and physical database modeling.
  • Relational DBMS : MySQL/PostgreSQL/MS Sql/Oracle.
  • SQL query design, optimization.
  • Data Warehousing: Redshift, Snowflake or equivalent.
  • Source code management: git/scm/mercurial/subversion.
  • Configuration: Terraform, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
• Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • NoSql: DynamoDb, MongoDb, Cassandra, Redis, HBase, or Cosmos.
  • Big Data: BigQuery/Hadoop/Spark/Presto.
  • Tiered data storage design.
  • Eventing: Kafka (MSK, Confluent), SQS, RabbitMQ.
  • ETL: Airflow, Pentaho, Upsolver, Blendo, Etleap.
  • Programming languages: Python/Go/Ruby.
  • Reporting: Looker, Tableau, Crystal.
  • Understanding of how different ORMs convert code into SQL.
  • Containerization: Docker.
  • AWS Services: RDS, Lambda, Kinesis, DMS, Batch.
  • AWS IAM expertise.
