Job Summary:

As the Senior Manager, Data Engineering at WEX, you will play a crucial role in the solution and building of data assets to support day-to-day operational activities. Your primary focus will be on managing and processing real-time or near real-time data critical for running the core functions of the business. This includes generating reports for monitoring operational KPIs and providing data insights to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating a robust data fabric that facilitates the construction of marts needed for data analytics, ensuring the right data architecture, and implementing reliability standardization frameworks. Your role will also involve enforcing the right standardization and frameworks to maintain well-organized, consistent, and secure data while upholding data quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Data Management:

    • Solution and build data assets supporting day-to-day operational activities.

    • Manage and process real-time or near real-time data critical for core business functions.

  • Data Fabric and Architecture:

    • Create a data fabric that facilitates the construction of marts for data analytics.

    • Define the right data architecture and reliability standardization framework.

  • Standardization and Framework Enforcement:

    • Enforce standardization and frameworks to ensure well-organized, consistent, and secure data.

    • Maintain a focus on data quality and reliability.

  • Operational Insights and Reporting:

    • Generate reports for monitoring operational KPIs.

    • Provide data insights to ensure the smooth running of operations.

What You Bring:

  • Proven experience in data engineering, with expertise in managing real-time or near real-time data.

  • Strong knowledge of data architecture, data fabric, and reliability standardization frameworks.

  • Experience with building marts for data analytics and business operations.

  • Familiarity with AWS RDS and API integration.

  • Experience with ELT/ETL tools (DBT, Informatica Cloud, etc.).

  • Experience with streaming data frameworks is a plus.

  • Expertise in migrating data from existing warehouses (Oracle, SQL Server) to Snowflake Data Cloud.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into effective data solutions.

  • Previous experience in the fintech industry, with a solid understanding of financial data and regulatory considerations.

  • Strong understanding of core business functions and operational KPIs.

  • 100% remote position - available to work on EST time zone

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in a similar position

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Proven experience in lead roles focused on data engineering and operations.

  • Strong understanding of data quality and reliability standards.

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
