What you’ll do:

  • Lead the effort to design, develop, and program methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze unstructured, diverse “big data” sources to generate actionable insights and solutions

  • Collaborate with product and service teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments

  • Develop and code software programs, algorithms, and automated processes to cleanse, integrate, and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources. 

  • Identify key insights from large data sources; interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers

  • Lead projects with hands-on analysis and modeling, drawing from multiple analytical methods to choose the best-fitting tool and level of complexity appropriate for the business challenge(s)

  • Engage with counterparts across the organization to identify, prioritize, frame, and structure complex and ambiguous challenges, prioritizing those where advanced analytics projects or tools can have the biggest impact

  • Identify and communicate the challenges and opportunities that the group should be working on, highlighting areas for improvement

  • Help define the analytical direction and influence the direction of the associated engineering and infrastructure work

  • Brainstorm and articulate business questions and investigate answers using data and mathematical techniques 

  • Translate analysis results into business recommendations

  • You will also deliver artifacts that set the standard in your organization for excellence, from designs to algorithms to implementations to technical documents

  • Help deliver AI tools to the business such as LLMs

Experience you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a related field 

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience (e.g., as a data scientist), including experience applying advanced analytics to planning and infrastructure problems.

  • Advanced experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Python) and database languages (e.g., SQL)

  • Advanced experience building, cleaning, and testing data quality for data sets preceding modeling 

  • Strong problem-framing, problem-solving, project management skills, customer service, and communication skills

  • Deep understanding of modeling and statistical approaches (e.g. logistic regression, linear regression, random forests, etc.)

  • Experience with end-to-end feature development (owning feature definition, roadmap development, and experimentation)

  • Experience distilling informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity, and competing objectives

What would make you stand out:

  • Masters or PhD in a related field

  • Combination of technical and business acumen

  • Experience with Dataiku

  • Experience in Agile methodologies

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan. Salary Pay Range: $123,000.00 - $164,000.00
