Curai is an early stage startup with a mission to build a patient-facing service using AI/ML to improve the quality and lower the cost and friction of high-quality health care. Curai currently has a small but diverse team that includes senior engineers, researchers, and leaders previously from companies like Google, Facebook, and Netflix, colleges like Stanford, and local coding schools like Hackbright. We also have research partnerships with leading universities in the country, and access to medical data that facilitates research in this space.

In this role you will:

• Have a huge impact in the early stages of a consumer product
• Collaborate across teams
• Help build a high-performance and inclusive work environment
• Help lead the charge on building out our internal data platform and driving towards insights that lead to step-function improvements in how we operate
• Own the end-to-end internal data engineering lifecycle including identifying and integrating new data sources, maintaining the health of our data pipelines and data warehouse, and working with stakeholders to model data into useful structures
• Collaborate with our machine learning and data science teams to deliver tooling and infrastructure useful for executing their responsibilities end-to-end
• Articulate best practices around logging frameworks and implement the changes to make those practices a reality.
• Implement alerting systems to track data quality and consistency.

An ideal candidate has:

• 4+ years of experience in software development
• 2+ years of experience working with data engineering and platform projects
• Experience writing production-level code in Python/Java or similar language
• Ability to analyze large data sets and identify and solve data errors, quality issues, and provide data insights
• Working knowledge of SQL databases and queries, as well as experience designing data schemas
• Experience working with modern computing platforms and tools such as AWS, GCP, git, PostgreSQL, and Docker
• Ability to lead complex software engineering projects from design to completion
• Passion for maintaining a high bar for code quality and rigorous engineering practices
• Ability to work and thrive in a diverse cross-disciplinary team that includes engineers with different backgrounds, physicians, and UX researchers
• Computer science or similar technical degree, or equivalent practical experience
• Exposure to healthcare data

We offer competitive compensation, and the ability to leave your footprint in the early stages of a company that will change the world. Our HQ is located in Palo Alto, in the heart of the Silicon Valley, but we are remote-first and have employees all over the country. Relocation is not expected. Our interview process consists of a screening round including role-related coding and design, followed by a series of conversations to meet the team, and learning more about each other, our mission, product, culture, and goals. That said, we try to tailor our interview process to the candidates background and interests.
