Our R&D Team is seeking a Staff Data Engineer with deep expertise and experience in designing & building big data platforms, including data modeling, data warehousing, data ingestion pipelines, ETL, data governance and cataloging. The Staff Data Engineer will champion our data strategy and practices, including tech stack choices, the integration of our data platform with our products, and the enablement of new AI-based capabilities as well as business intelligence for multiple stakeholders. To be successful in this role they must have strong technical skills, a proven track record of building large scale data platforms.




OUTCOMES

    • Oversee 15Five’s Data Engineering efforts:
    • Design, build and maintain our real-time data platform enabling the ingestion and processing of large scale data in near real time.
    • Make tech stack choices and infrastructure related decisions that will support our mid and long term data needs and strategy, taking into account flexibility and cost efficiency.
    • Design & champion our semantic data modeling to capture our data elements and in alignment with our business model and goals to enable extensibility and scalability.
    • Build and manage ETL processes to integrate external data sources and enable new & enriched datasets.
    • Champion data governance practices, including data security, sanitization, retention policies, BCDR, and access controls.
    • Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to enable integrations of data into reporting and BI services.
    • Collaborate with data scientists in building & enabling access to new datasets needed to run statistical analysis and train machine learning models.
    • Maintain data reliability, high availability, and accessibility.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

    • A computer science degree or equivalent experience is required.
    • 8+ years of experience as a data engineer or software engineer focusing on building data infrastructure, solving complex technical challenges at a large scale, and delivering data products that drive business impact.
    • Experience in architect, develop, deploy, and manage a new, end-to-end data infrastructure leveraging cloud technologies that ingest data from a wide range of internal and external sources, and enables API-based or user-friendly consumption of data.
    • Experience in designing data architecture for multiple database models such as RDBMS, document, columnar, graph, and key-value data stores.
    • Expertise in both SQL and Python.
    • Proficiency in both SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
    • Proficiency in Data warehouses, Data lakes, and Data orchestration tools.
    • Proficiency in data modeling, data sanitization, and data security.
    • Experience in Data governance practices, and Data discovery.
    • Well-verse in modern cloud native data tech stacks.
    • Experience with container tech such as Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Experience with data and ML orchestration tools.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills capable of working with different business partners and stakeholders.

The base salary range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the role across all US locations. We benchmark all roles for compensation in ranges relative to the top half of the market of similar tech companies using up-to-date market data. Within the range, individual pay is determined by budget allocated for the role and additional factors, including job-related competencies and skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US job postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. The US new hire base salary range for this full-time role is $178,500-$194,000 + bonus or commissions + equity + benefits. 

Note that base salary ranges are reviewed each year based on up-to-date market data, and team members who are performing are eligible for a merit increase, budget permitting.
